This. Lack of vision, awareness, technical ability, pace and creativity is why he'll never be a top-class/complete midfielder like Gerrard and Lampard are/used to be.

Ameobi is average. Lacks consistency, only slightly faster than me(I'm **** slow), lacks technical ability and is past it. Good hold-up play and a threat in the air.. but what else?

Best is 100 times better than him IMO.. better work-rate, more pace, better on the deck and he's scored more goals than Ameobi this season(goals per game ratio).

Agree that Leon is best or Shola?

Sure, he's loyal. I respect him for staying with us throughout his career despite being made a mockery of at times by fans. But I'd much rather see Leon start ahead of Shola. Shola is incosistent and often lazy, Best puts the effort in <ok>.

Being loyal doesnt make you good though. Shola has far too many off days when he does nothing.

And when I said Kuqi was his replacement, I meant we needed to get somebody because we thought his season was over.

Maybe, But when Ameobi plays Nolan scores goals (when shola heads it down for him) does Best get Nolan goals? No

Its easy to be loyal like Shearer was when you are a top player and getting games but look at Shola he spent most of his time benched gets stick from most of the fans and yet still he remains loyal.

Mate, the last time Shola was any GOOD was back when he was younger and fresher and had a bit more about him.. but now he's just awfully average.. looks so lethargic at times it's incredible. Best for me is the OVERALL better player.

Edit : Best is much more than a target man IMO.. he's got good enough pace, very hard-worker and has got a little bit of decent dribbling up his sleeve(see Everton first half, nearly scored a neat goal by beating 2/3 Everton players). Ameobi is just encouraging to play more hoofball and at least with Best and Lover we've been playing much better on the deck than when we used to play 451 and hoof it to Carroll/Shola.. narh I'll prefer neat football with technically adept strikers.

Shola, ability wise, unfortunately is our best striker, Best is in better form at the moment and has the potential to do better but at the moment Ameobi has better technique, holds the ball up better, and is 10x better in the air, Best is the better finisher on the ground and has the potential to be miles better, but we havent seen enough yet.

Ameobi can be horrendous but I strongly believe if he could stay fit he would be a 10-15 goal a season striker, injuries are his main curse.

Shola is better because he sets up Nolan??? He's set up Nolan 3 times, 2 of those times he was trying to score himself and Nolan had to put it away for him.

Very good point you make, but in technique you mean ball control, dribbling, passing, etc.. then yeah probably but I'm not so sure, at times he has a god-awful touch, his passing is questionable and his dribbling is not that much better than Best's.. this clearly shows that weather Best or Shola is our best striker.. we seriously need a striker with hot-pace, a good dribbler and a creative sort of player.. a ''nippy Jermaine Defoe/Bellamy'' QUALITY striker would do for me, someone who can pop up with that magic in the box to produce a winning goal or a goal of the season contender, someone to WOW us.. unfortunately none of our strikers are up to that level yet(Best/Ranger).

from what Ive seen from Best I think he has all the attributes to turn into a minimum 15goal a season striker
which would see him our 2nd striker next season.

If I had to pick two strikers to make way for ONE quality one and another decent striker/winger.. it'll have to be Kuqi, Loverman and Shola!

NEW ST, NEW ST/BEST, RANGER, AIREY/DONALDSON/YOUNG AMEOBI

Not bad eh for next season?

If one of them had to leave at the end of the season, I'd rather we kept Best. (As strange as it would be seeing Shola in another teams colours)
