yup... got all the newkie fans on not606 on then <laugh> well done there lads.

honestly i don't even try to wum your boards or anyone elses but on you come reacting to a bit of bait... on a liverpool thread <laugh>

the only pity is i didn't catch any spurs wums with the other bits of bait i trialed about as well.... After all isn't it a good way to make you sit up and debate soemthing. the pity is not one of you has made a cogent arguement as to why my point is wrong and some newcastle fans are quite reasonable in seeing its fair.

you newcaslte lads ought to learn not so be so snappy....... tell you what you guys show me where your squad is not small.... here's your 25 man premier league squad lifted off a blog post... (incidentally i never said anywhere your squad was trash, only it was small... small and trash do not equate to the same thing. My erstwhile neighbours have had a small squad for years but have delivered quality after all.)

Shola Ameobi, Demba Ba, Hatem Ben Arfa, Leon Best, Yohan Cabaye, Fabricio Coloccini, Rob Elliot, Danny Guthrie, Jonas Gutierrez, Steve Harper, Tim Krul, Peter Lovenkrands, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, James Perch, Danny Simpson, Alan Smith, Steven Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Cheick Tiote, Mike Williamson....

decent talent no question but to sustain over 38 games?

And...how many of those are you really happy with? come on out with it... show me where your squad will sustain a bid for 4th place.... i could have trashed your squad but don't want to....

the real reason i think you are turning up en masse on this thread and why you rose to the bait is cos you're unhappy about a lot of things same as us reds were 1 and 2 years ago (and to be frank you lot had some nasty wums about 606 back then) Again guess what... go look at the classification of this thread its not a multi club one is it? this is a liverpool thread actually and the shame is most reds, myself included, have a lot of time for your club. you guys never seem to see that though.

I've been quite reasonable again for the fourth time seeing no one of you lot have contradicted the valid point.... that being there are a lot of examples of sides getting off to an absolute flyer then falling away. I've quoted the start sunderland made many moons ago when kevin phillips fired in goals for sport, i've quoted more recent examples like hull and blackpool too. It's a fact of life that clubs can get off to a shocker like arsenal or a flier like you guys but in the end... the thing is predictable.

In fact i suggest you come up with a better more reasoned out coutner point as to why my statement is "arrogant" "clueless" or whatever other one line drivel you dismiss it with then i might listen and debate it with you! I don't see you finihsing top 6 simply as again there are better sides out there not the least of which are us arsenal and spurs, but even villa look decent. I rate stoke at home big time as well. theres nothing unreasonable in that even if you guys did bite on my line about me having news for you!

    I'll take that <ok>

I recon our unbeaten streak will come at the hands of Stoke (spurs never travel well up to St James' Park), then we'll get hammered by Citeh and United. However it will be interesting to see if we can keep up our good form against teams we believe we should be beating.

I think for what it's worth you guys won't get turned over by city or utd that easily. You've got two massive things going for you (aside from the reasons i've said you on't be top 6) and those are your home ground and fan support.

the point that spurs won't like going to st james' is a good one, in the end if you win say 10 of your home games or even say 13 then thats going to put you right up there with the top 6 sides and its on the road where wins are going to make the difference....

again i've just said i like stoke's outfit for challenging tool but we'll all just seen them tanked on the road. that could be what holds them back too..... in short make st james' a fortress and pick up points on the road and you'll do well. god knows its what's held us up these past two years!

Like all the other Newcastle fans here I reckon we haven't got a cat's chance in hell of ending up in fourth place come the end of the season, we're just enjoying it while it lasts. I think we all know by the end of November that isn't going to be the case considering we've got a nice triple whammy of Man U, Man City and Chelsea during that month.

While our fixture list so far has been somewhat kind, I do think it's a little harsh of some people to dismiss what we've done so far as dumb luck. We got lucky with the ref at Wolves and would have been thrashed by QPR if Jay Bothroyd could finish a Sunday dinner, but other than that our performances have been very good - utterly dominant against Blackburn and on Villa's patch we looked like the home team.

Spurs and Liverpool are still miles ahead of us (I'd be very happy with a draw against Spurs in our next game) but on the evidence of this season so far I see no reason why we can't duke it out with the likes of Arsenal, Villa and Everton for 6th, 7th and 8th. In truth anywhere in the top half would be excellent and shows progress for us.

I don't think its dumb luck for the record. when a side is in form and has its players available then they get the results. thats what i think. your defensive record is very very good so you are organised as were under hughton.

my point was when you have a small squad then if key men get injured... and trust me we reds know (gerrard, torres) then you can't do what you'd like to. There were times last year we lost carragher, gerrard, torres (then carroll) kuyt, agger, aurelio, johnson, maxi, and others to injury over periods longer than a month. we still had our home form (under dalglsih) but our away form was bad we got 6th., from 18th....

I just point out we've all seen good starts peter out... the thing about some guys is that while i think you won't sustain it i don't wish bad things on you.

I look at our squad and the only place I really think we have the legs to compete if we get injuries is midfield. Defence is a big worry if Coloccini or S.Taylor get injured, the full backs are by far the weakest part of our squad, don't trust any of our keepers any more apart from Krul and the prospect of Shola and/or Lovenkrands starting a game is enough to make me cry, although Sammy Ameobi is class and with our packed midfield there's always the potential to use the single forward. So yeah if we get bad luck with injuries we might struggle, I certainly agree with you in that sense mate.

i liked krul when i saw him play a few times in the championship. put him in my fantasy team last year too, not that he played mind! Pardew did make a comment after the forest game that you conceeded 3 due to him bring some guys in for the resting of first teamers so its insteresting to hear about your defense cos to be honest our defense isn't that hot in reserve strength either. Oh we've johnson and kelly and enrique is a great coup for us but carrgher and agger's issues are well known. Most reds want one more CB to be comfortable.

the great thing about a good start is it gives you the points i nthe bag so you don't come under pressure for them later so you an concentrate on advancing up not looking back so best of luck..... I might have given a few guys the old wind up but i still want a strong newcastle beacuse of the links between the clubs in staff and players but also because the league needs more big clubs up there, no dis repsect ;) to the small clubs that have come up like fulham etc but england needs 50k+ stadia filled and noisy in the prem

Poor start last season was the reason Tottehnham finished above Liverpool.I believe there is a chance Liverpool finished above Tottenham this season.Let us wait and see <ok>

It'll be interesting to see how Newcastle do in January without Demba Ba and Tiote. Likewise Spurs without Ekotto and Bassong.

I think we could be getting a striker in January. As for Tiote we have Gosling, Marveaux and a talented young lad called Vuckic.

Before the Spurs Arsenal match sky showed the with and without Ledley King stats.

    With him they were 7-1-1
Without (I think) it was something like 12-13-??

Both shocking and impressive at the same time

I don't believe in stats like that, they don't take into account the quality of the opposition, the other players available/unavailable or the quality of the manager.

For example we had less average points with Gerrard in the team than without him last season, that was because he was injured for Kenny's 6 months in charge and had to play under Hodgson. It was nothing to do with him or his performances.

I understand what you're saying Lucaaas but that doesn't mean you ignore them outright either.

    It's a staggering difference.

I can see Lucaaas' point, Spurs also have a worse win ratio when Moderic plays.

That's hardly surprising - Modric plays well about once a month.

Our stats for this season in the league so far this season are actually:
With Ledley King: 100% (4 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses)
Without Ledley King: 0% (2 losses, 0 draws, 0 wins)

Doesn't take into account the fact that our first two games were the two Manc clubs, that we hadn't signed Adebayor or Parker and that we had an extensive injury list, but still.

Modric is easily one of our most consistent players.

Spurs will finish higher thsn Arsenal, however it won't be in the CL places, they will pip them to a Europa league spot, but Arsenal may get one of those if Liverpool win the carling cup and/or the FA Cup and qualify for the CL finishing third.

I'm not wumming anyone. The Spuds will be without Greedybayor in the new year when he goes off to the African Cup of Nations and then they will have less up front than Posh Spice which will mean they will drop a serious number of points.
There is more chance of a top club letting 'Arry do their tax returns than there is of Spurs finishing 4th.
Spurs are heading under Redknapp the same way Southampton and Portsmouth did...into financial difficulty.
