I think it is more distraction rather than fatigue. Also the unconscious reluctance to go into 50/50 tackles in case of missing the final of the CL . Our attacking trio have been really poor and their amazing communication has disappeared.

Until a few days ago I still have had no doubts we would get the points needed for top 4. Last month we were 12 points ahead of Chelsea. The number of points dropped at such a crucial stage is ridiculous. For the first time I am worried. I am praying that Hughton and Brighton play a relaxed game at Anfield. If they decide to defend for a point, I have no hope our team on current form will break them.

They are safe now it does not mean that they are going to roll over for us.

If Brighton weren't safe I'd be worried but those guys will be on the beach already. A dirty "I'm gonna break your leg and ruin your summer" look from Lovren in the tunnel should sort it.

Let's be brutally honest here: our squad still isn't where it should be. Yes, we have stars other clubs would die for: Salah, Mane, Firmino and Ox. Ox is injured; we're still relying on Lovren and Klavan, and times Moreno, as back-ups, all three of whom shouldn't be anywhere near the first team and who should have been binned off seasons' ago; VVD is surrounded by idiots; we also have Robertson and Klopp appears to be wrapping him in cotton wool; TAA can be a bit hit and miss at times; Clyne and Matip are frankly pants and Solanke isn't good enough. Lallana: a valuable vase smashed to smithereens and at this stage no amount of magic glue can fix him.

We still have a way to go and we need more quality players for the squad, not just the team. We don't have enough of them.

Compare that to City who OK have had the odd off-day; Manure: still a pile of **** but still they've had fewer off-days than we have; that's why they're above us in the table and it's likely they'll waltz off with the FA Cup. We've gone off the boil against sides we should have kicked off the park. Our defence is still badly wanting and let me say this: if we don't win the CL all fingers will point to Klopp because that'll be third final we've ****ed up.

I know we’ve been in poor form but the players are fatigued (physically and mentally) and have been somewhat distracted with CL.

Firmino and Salah have played a lot more minutes this season than in any other season.

We have a week to recover and I expect us to be sharper.

Granted, but what have City and Manure got that keep them going? They're not running round the pitch like Billy Whizz trying to compensate for others like Moreno and Lovren, that's what.

And distracted by CL? It never happened in Paisley's day. FFS, it wasn't that long ago we won a treble with Houllier! And please don't insult me by pointing out that it was a different time. How can footballers be more knackered these days than back then? There was talk of the 39th game at one point. You must be joking! Not one Premier League player these days could cope with that.

City and United both are very expensive squads with depth. We simply don’t have that. We’re unable to rest one of the front 3 without our whole attack falling apart.

They don't want to be rested to be fair. It's really about some of the ninnies in midfield and defence. They're not doing their job properly.

Hit the nail on the head. That is the reason why we desperately need good cover for those three. These players may be knackered and yet Klopp is forced to play them. That is why he was so upset at the WBA and Stoke draws. He wanted to rest his key players but now he’s forced to play them. And they could be injured too as well as shattered.

We used just 14 players in a season when Paisley was manager, and two of them and a combined twelve games... <whistle>

For all that's holy, ya'll have short memories! Leicester City! I'll leave that right there.

It's not about money; its about quality players and also egos. Spotting the good from the lazy expensive ****ing bad. How much did Pogba cost the turds? Ego, ego, ego all ****ing day long. Balotelli - big name, big ego. Did us **** all.

City spent it but they bought quality. It just happened to cost more.

So? They still did what we failed to do, what we've failed to do for 28 years. City had CL football this season and they won the title; Chavs before them; Scum before that.

The argument is futile and also merely peppered with excuses. We still don't have enough in the tank. That's the fact.

Don't get me wrong I've been a lot happier this season than I have been for a long time but when the chips go down we still have a tendency to **** ourselves. Before every match I still expect a **** up because it's kinda what we do.

my opinion is its mentality and what you get away with.

I think certain players have got away with taking it really easy in past 4 games due to semi final.

I think there's been nobody eating them for it
