Pressure also on Tony Pulis. it's a race against time for Crystal Palace, since the inception of the premiership they never stay up after promotion.

Fat Sam has to be next. He's already received the dreaded vote of confidence from his boss which means it's only a matter of time before he goes.

This merry-go-round is just one sick joke. I truly believe that clubs should have their playing staff sorted prior to the kick-off for the season. Then, apart from very exceptional circumstances you play with the squad that you've got for the season - and that includes the manager and the coaches.

Yes, you can negotiate and announce deals during the season but they only take effect when the present season ends.

not sure where i got it from but somone suggested a while back that managers should only be allowed to move during the window like players.

Must be awful for a manager to get a 3 year contract, and then if they do **** get sacked and paid millions of quid and then walk into the same job a few months down the line <whistle>

If I do **** in my job, I get sacked for nothing. Can't feel any sympathy for them when they get paid loads of money.

Come on! Let's have some reality here. The vast majority of managers who do get the sack mid-season do not just walk straight into another job. Only those who are high profile will walk away with any compensation.

Everyone walks away with compensation if they've been sacked part way through a contract. Most managers in the Prem league walk into a job no matter how bad they've done. they may have to drop down to the Championship but they still have offers.

Talking to a West Ham fan today who told me that fat Sam is the 13th highest paid manager in the world, on 3 million a year. If they sack him he will be entitled to 6 million to pay his contract up!!

    Tough at the top eh!!!!

Not denying I'm jealous. Would love to be a football manager. Working in a job that I'd actually enjoy, getting paid a lot more than I am at the moment. Job security will be lower but one decent season in the top flight and you're pretty much sorted for a few more jobs at least!

Then don't maon that you are not a Premiership manager just get on and gain the experience that you would require. Perhaps then, with a barrel load of luck, you too could try and ride the roller coaster 24 hrs per day to hold on to your new job!

True but how many times have those managers including high profile managers been sacked for failure and keep getting job after job in the same field. There is no reality here, that was Biscans point.

How many times has Fat Sam been sacked for failure? And then gets another job.

How many of those times do you think I'd get sacked in my employment area before I stopped getting jobs at all?

I agree with your idea Dave but more to take power away from players. At the minute they get to hide behind those sackings.

The reason that these guys keep getting the jobs is RISK. Owners are desperate to reduce the level of risk with experience hence they repeat the same mistakes. But if an owner does take the risk then they can end up with egg on their faces a la Levy. But my main point is that it's easy to sit in front of your computer and sound off about the mistakes these guys make. You know before you take the job that it is almost certain that your tenure will end in failure and that failure may not be totally down to you. Sure the pay is high but the risks and the hours are killing!

I'm not denying any of this... however my main point and I stick by is I still have no sympathy when after failing to meet target's you get a massive pay off of millions of £'s and end up walking into another job a few months down the line.

Look, it must be crap to lose your job, but I'm sure the compensation package softens the blow for them
