Villa deserve to go down, they've been flirting with relegation for the last 2-3 seasons and the club has done little to nothing to address the situation, apparently relying on the name of the club being a guarantee that they'll never leave the PL. Lerner needs to learn than if you use a bargain basement philosophy the basement is where you'll be.

  2. The crap others bought in. Won't be too many players he bought AND sold in just two and a half years.

  3. They were my annual very for the drop last year. I never bothered with the newly promoted sides as they offered **** odds. Not bothered being this year.

The cost of Villa's current squad is ranked 13th out of 20.

He's therefore under performed by definition, they shouldn't be on the cusp of relegation, and not scoring for 10 hours is woeful, especially after you've loaned out a proven PL goal scorer who you've never given a fair crack to.

He did a ****e job at Villa and deserved the boot

Relegation could be a blessing in disguise like it was for Newcastle. A wake up call.

Bad call :emoticon-0105-wink: Think they'll find themselves unceremoniously exiting through the trap door come May.

It's always guaranteed that probably 2 outta 3 of the newly promoted will go straight back down. #parachutesforhire

But it's good when a team comes up and establishes itself like Swansea and Southampton have (obviously Southampton were in the top flight before)

  7. Although I agree with what you've said about this season, I think overall he's done well consideration the situation.

I'll just suggest we agree to disagree here as I can't be arsed with this topic tbh <laugh>

Lots of managers don't have the funds but can coach a team to play some decent football. You need that quality to progress up the table but my mate who is a Villa fan is just frustrated with thr way they play. They have no set style, they used to be set up to counter teams with pace up top but they don't even do that anymore.

With players like Benteke, Agbonlahor, Weiman they have real pace up front which should be causing teams problems but they don't even do that.

You don't need 100's of millions to coach a team to play attractive football and Lambert hasn't been able to do that.

  11. Only problem is there are another nineteen teams trying to do the same.

Maybe I just think it's harsh on him after his predecessors got a lot more cash.

It reminds me of Stuart Pearce at Man City. Sven got money before him, Hughes got money after but Pearce got ****all.

  13. Villa have appointed Tim Sherwood. Might go and sick a tenner on them dropping if I can find some decent odds

Very different situation to Leeds, but they could end up like Middlesborough very easily.

    -

Villa have appointed Sherwood. Seems like a rushed and little thought out decision by Villa. No offense to Sherwood, he done fairwell with Spurs last season.

Someone needs to stop being fickle and hire Malky Mackay though.

Edit: I forgot Wigan hired Mackay.

I can imagine a huge clearout in summer but will another manager be sacked before the end of the season?

Newcastle are a joke so if Sunderland win why bother sacking now?

last year there was 9 managers or something sacked midseason. the average lifespan of a manager is supposedly 18months (and only that due to wenger)

    this year
    pulis left n mutual consent
    irvine got sacked
    warnock got the sack
redknapp said he resigned but he only left got his was going to be sacked
    lambert got sacked

Pardew left newcastle to go to palace

so really we've had less this year than last year so i fully expect some heads to roll as we get into april.

Poyet, martinez and pearson are on the block.

the rest will prob go at end of season after all games are finished.

    Pelligrini and allardyce in particular
