I though he was excellent against us at their place (I know, I know, we were shocking), but his movement was superb. Maybe a case of right player, wrong role, wrong club. I always thought there was more to come from him.
Definitely Zaha for £15m. Or Altidore. I would say Agudelo when he joins Stoke, but then he's joining on a free and would have less riding on him, compared to the likes of Altidore.
It seems most of the teams in the bottom half have spent big money on a striker, and I think due to the TV money going up I think it's more difficult to judge by price who'll be best. Personally can't understand why Norwich have brought in three strikers when they only play one up top. For me it's got to be Dwight Gayle though, how you can spend that much money on a player who's not even a proven goalscorer at a lower level...
Not really sure to be honest, Gayle probably. I also believed Fernandiniho was a flop, but he was amazing against Newcastle, just had something about him!
Agree with Gayle and Schurrle, and I'll also add Alvaro Negredo. Fernandinho cost too much, but I think he's an outstanding player and he'll have a good season for sure.
I think you could pick any one of Sunderlands signings and have a good chance of getting the biggest flop. Largely because of the way that Di Canio will mismanage and demotivate them.
Let's not **** ourselves here, surely the biggest flop will be Gaston if he were to have another poor to indifferent season.
Same. Can't see how he'll repay the £16m paid for him when City have Dzeko, Aguero and Jovetic in their ranks. Not a bad player, but one I don't see that City need.
Don't know who it will be yet, but it's whoever Arsenal sign on transfer deadline day to try to please the fans
Altidore will be okay, I think. He's main asset is he's a physical beast. It's not like he's going to somehow get slower or weaker just because he changed leagues. His passing vision and technical ability have improved a lot, but they still aren't really great. He's not that great a player. But I don't think DiCanio's going to ask him to do much of the fancy stuff. Just park himself in front of goal, knock a ball down, and finish. He played well in Sunderland's first game. The main question to me is more whether Sunderland can get him enough chances.
If he does have another average season, I think that we would still be able to get our money back for him but it won't be from a top club, like we originally expected to buy from us. I do hope that Ramirez manages to find a way into the team with the signing of Osvaldo, JWP's introduction to the first team, which will hopefully last longer than it did last season and also the fact that a winger may become available for us.
