And I don't care if Sahin plays for Real, Bayern or Barca. It's irrelevant if he doesn't want to play for us.

frank, the trouble with zealots is that they are myopic. There's nothing wrong with the objective but when you become fixated upon a TINA (Ds can look up that acronym) philosophy then disaster looms.

Ach I applaud fervour just don't understand continually building something up beyond its ability to deliver. That's a soul destroying past time.

I've also never understood the view realistic=defeatist. recognizing you aren't good enough isn't the same as saying it will always be so. I start the season as I do all the others hopefully of seeing the type of LFC team I watched as a kid. As a Fan I can't make anything else happen.

I think the realistic=defeatist stance is inherent in the British psyche. Our history shows us that when we chanced it or muddled through we were succesful. When we thought we had all the angles covered - we lost. There's nothing wrong with losing - the crime is not to learn from that defeat.

I'd love to go to Anfield as I did in the 60s with the "who are we going to hammer today" optimism I had then. But then the sides that I watched didn't have the best players but they played as though they were the best players. I want Rodgers to do a Shankly - convince them that they are and organise them so that they appear to be.

Some thing else Shanks said, when he started going on about people who use longer , more complicated words to appear more intelligent than they really are!!!!!!!!!!!!

"We're professionals at LIVERPOOL, we believe in simplicity. I wouldn't go on television or use words in newspapers that only a few people understand. Some people use words knowing full well that maybe only 10% of the viewers or readers know what they mean".

"We don't, We speak the language of the people, the language that everybody understands. Instead of me saying that somebody was avaricious, I would say they were bloody greedy".

Some of you guys need to get real.

He is the first proper quality we've been linked with in ages. There's a big difference between a one season wonder playing great based on form and another on a player who has proven technical ability.

In my opinion, you don't have to agree, but he is Champions League quality, if we get him with on season long loan with a view to a permanent, how can that possibly be a bad thing? If he fails to perform we send him back, if he does we'll sign him up.

I agree this isn't our biggest area of concern and if we miss out its disappointing at the very most (As opposed to the very least), but this is a chance to build on some quality which can provide actual quality to the first team as opposed to depth or potential, which is all we seem to be hearing lately.

I'm not having a dig at our transfer policy or our manager, I'm just saying we need to be realistic and say this is a good opportunity to sign a player who may feel he has a lot to prove, and if he does come he has the style of play at Liverpool to suit him and I'm sure he'll find Brendan Rodgers as a good guide to help him get some stable, consistent performances which match his best performances aswell as instil some confidence into him to give him faith, achieve the perfect balance and he may eventually himself believe Liverpool is a better move for his career than Arsenal.

    Huh? Iniesta?

That's another point, nothing says Shelvey, Henderson and Allen won't improve because we signed some quality to play ahead, it just means they have more motivation and hard work to reach the sort of level to compete with Sahin for that spot. I'm sure he'll be used to fill in for Gerrard when other important games are coming up if he performs well.

No, they played him at LB because LB was missing players and DM/MC was taken by Alonso. In training. Mourinho has stated that Sahin has the ability, but who on this planet is going to replace Alonso or Ozil in the middle? His interview was him saying "Sahin has so much ability that he needs to be playing regularly in a top side, but hey, I've got Khedira, Alonso, Ozil and more in that position and they are more valuable to me. So he should be happy. Whatever he does, he should be happy."

As for the Real comment, it's true. When you buy players from Real then you better believe they're better than Charlie Adam. Rejects or not.

A lot of fans have the mentality of someone who thinks: "We're Liverpool, we don't need to convince anyone, if they don't come asking US to sign them then whatever, we can do without". And to that I have to say, you're deluded. When you don't play CL for 3 seasons then you better start convincing class to join you. I'm sure we had to convince Alonso, Torres, Mascherano to come. We had to show them we have the desire to see class on our pitch and that they are class. Not every player is born to love Liverpool, some will learn over time. We need these signings more than anyone realises. Class attracts class. Top talent attracts top talent. Thats how you get there. Convince Sahin to come, that leads to Tello being more inclined to join. Sahin and Tello? Well maybe Ramirez next, and then more - Suarez, Gerrard, Lucas, Borini, Agger, Reina and bang, we've got a top team again. Modern football is ruthless like that and we need to get with the times.

Sorry, I clicked reply instead of edit, didn't mean to double post.

Is "Deluded" like the "N" word? Liverpool fans can use it on each other but it's bad form for others to call us it?

    ;)

Sahin can come or go. I'll trust BR on who he thinks is good enough for us to get on our knees for. If its Sahin & it works well fair enough. I remember a troop of LFC fans on here calling it a disgrace we didn't bend over for Sigurdsson a few weeks back. Don't hear that mentioned much now.

The fact that he doesn't get in front of all the players in the list at Real would make me hesitant of throwing the "world class" title around just yet. He may well be but you earn that title consistently on the pitch, you're not awarded it by a bunch of desperate fans clutching at anything to make the pain go away.

Ds your a fool. Now is that clear enough for you. You cannot run a successful club or business (and LFC is both) by whoring yourself to the next possible maybe.

Your as bad as Ds. Football has not changed at all when it comes to the whims and attitudes of supposedly professional players. Only the numbers have changed.

So you are wanting Brendan Rodgers to "coach/motivate" Charlie Adam,Jay Spearing,Jordan Henderson into being as good as Nuri Sahin, hes Brendan f**kin Rodgers, not Jesus f**kin Christ.

You truly are living still in the 19th century, your methods and ideas are old and outdated like Kenny.Thank God Rodgers ideas seem to 21st century. All this from a man who lectures people about football knowledge and tactics, and doesnt even know who Nuri Sahin ( the topic of the thread) plays for, he thinks he plays for Barcelona not Real Madrid , your football knowledge really is "cutting edge"............... not!!! And then uses the words myopic, zeolots, acronym, TINA(WTF) in a sentence about FOOTBALL to try and appear intelligent( I always use them in the pub on match days <laugh>), and cover up the fact he knows f**k all about football, but likes to lecture everyone else about it anyway

IDIOT. When it comes to football there is nothing new under the sun. What changes is silly people like you who think that they've just invented sex and never stop to wonder just how they got here in the first place!

As for TINA then let me educate you. It stands for There Is No Alternative ie a myopic (hope you can understand the big words) strategic way of thinking. Now football is essentially a game of strategy (generally performed by idiots [players] who have little true strategic inteligence and hence need a leader [manager/coach]. Perhaps you are merely trying to ape them. Personally i couldn't give a **** what you do in the pub talk all the ****e you like but don't expect it to be taken as fact when it's ill-informed received opinion!
