Define best. You have used the term great. A defender who rarely produces a game below par over years is an asset. Carey in all his time at BCFC has never had the almost catastrophic loss of form others have, with or without serious injury.
I have said many times before on here and the previous BBC site, that Maynard was and is a scorer of great goals, not a great goal scorer. Big difference, he did nothing in his short time at West Ham, despite their far better players. Probably the best was McIndoe in our play off season, he was class that season, sadly he got to big for his boots, a thing that is all to common at this level these days. LJ anyone??
