How do you account for that statement..? Are you privvy to info from a radio controlled fly-on-the-wall inside Newcastle's dressing room..?

So perhaps Cortese knew what he was doing when he replaced Pardew with Nigel.

I think Palace and Hull are nailed on. The other place will probably be between Cardiff, Stoke and Sunderland

There seemed to be a lack of spirit and discipline about Newcastle last night - all is not right - the Kinnear situation, Cabaye maybe on his way, Coloccini can`t make his mind up, little activity in the transfer market, and little time to put it right. The French influx worked for a while last year, but is perhaps going poire-shaped now.

He doesn't need to be. I am not a Pardew fan and had an interesting debate with my Geordie mate today. I told him when they got him that he's great for an impact, but after a season or two his style can start to grate on top professionals and they start to switch off. I was worried it might happen here but he wasn't here long enough to find out, it happened at West Ham and I think it's happening now. I can't quite give you the right explanation about how I think about him, but there's something that has never sat right for me. I said it the day he came to us too.

Nobody on here has said us either! God I hope we don't end up in any kind of relegation battle, it would come as a very cruel surprise.

And this thread will get resurrected to rival the "And now my friends, that is how to win away" thread!

Saints,Swans and ourselves share a sort of provincial backwater charm so it's good to see none of us being favourites this year.I would be surprised to see the three promoted cubs all go down so it comes down to one other.Probably Stoke but would like it to be West Ham for the Londocentric media. Then let's see them fill that stadium when Bournemouth come to town.

Hi CT! Think we will both be safe. Would love Fat Sam Nolan and Carroll to go but sadly can't see it.

Alright chaps, Hull City fan here. As someone pointed out, we didn't score many last year but we lost Aluko for 6 months last season and I still think he finished 2nd or 3rd highest scorer, we also lost Fryatt for most the season too. Having Aluko back is a massive plus. We've also brought in Sagbo who looks a very similar type player to Benteke. Hudd and Livermore should give us that quality in the middle of the park and with the incoming Davies and Figgy we have also strengthened at the back. Brucie has been very shrewd this summer.
We maybe haven't spent much compared to other teams but the players he's brought in look like a step forward in quality.
I actually think it is going to be a very close call for us between 17th and 18th. Just hope it's not 18th!! For what it's worth I don't see you guys anywhere near the drop this year. Comfortable mid-table is my prediction. Good luck for the rest of the season, apart from our games!

Looking at the fixtures again and I think Sunderland could be deep in trouble after the first dozen games.

I don't like to write off the newly promoted sides because we were in their position just last season, but, I think Palace are really going to struggle. Also, Cardiff I think will do worse than people think and may even finish bottom. Hull, despite looking dodgy in defence (as we did last year), knocked the ball about pretty well against Chelsea I thought, and so may have enough about them to stay up if they score enough goals. Stoke, Sunderland and Newcastle are the other candidates to finish in the bottom 3 I think.

We got absolutely screwed over like, unbelievable. Need to pick up points away from home and the odd point at home. If we're not in the relegation zone after our tough run of home games we'll be fine
