It's where the money is and where you get to see some great players at your ground......you will also get plenty of TV coverage and will be on MOD every week. What is not to like about it ?..........congratulations by the way on your promotion.......The premiership..........It's the only place to be....
Don't get us wrong - we have fought and wanted to get there. But the Premiership is not as competitive as the old first division was - there are only about 4 teams who can dream of winning it. When we were promoted in the early 80's we came second in the first year. Money says that can never happen again. Swansea have done comparatively well since their promotion but they can never win the Premiership.
Thats why there is an unofficial 2 tier system the premiership. The top 6 are on their own and from 7th down is what we all try to aim for also to try to beat any of the big boys..... As it stands now Southampton are first and we are second and with 3 games to go then we still have something to aim at........
Dont hate any of them.....why would i ? ...My satisfaction is to try and beat whoever because if you actually hate another team then there is something wrong with you. You can envy another team but to hate them is really jealousy and what for. Be proud of your own club and dont worry about anyone else's......It's only a game at the end of the day and we are all fans of football but with different teams....
Fair point - and welcome to the board by the way. I think hate is another word that is used far too readily these days - like legend, tragedy etc. I must admit I am guilty sometimes There are teams I love to see losing but to hate is probably a waste of energy. Good luck for the rest of your season and looking forward to your visit to the Vic.
It has been said, by more knowledgeable people than I, that "hate" is the strongest form of love, in which case I certainly do not hate either of my two ex wives!
When I started this I didn't mention 'hate'. I can't imagine what it is like to hate someone or something. Supporting a football team, though, is emotional. I'm sure that there must be screeds of social anthropological writing on it. It would seem, from Monks Hero's, that the Premier League has created some sort of camaraderie amongst supporters of clubs unlikely to win the competition - which proves that I have a lot to learn about life in the top flight. I may even come to like Everton! Please join us on this board again Monks Hero's. We are generally a friendly bunch.
Has to be Chelsea for me. Sort of feel we are at a turning point in our history and I'm a little bit afraid of it. I want us to do well but I don't want to see us become like a premiership club, with a plastic ground, plastic supporters etc. I want us to beat everyone but can we do that and still be the Watford that we know and love ? My only consolation is that as well as being arrogant and overpaid the premiership is also overrated and even the top 6 are not as good as they were.
I want to beat West Ham just to get one over on 17 of my first cousins who are all Hammers to varying degrees from STH's to result watchers. Chavski because I got a slap outside the Bodge when I was a teenager by some middle aged 20+stone thug. On a cold day I do not have to take my mitt's off to count the number of their fans amongst my friends so it would be a real pleasure. They're the two clubs that I have a genuine disdain for. Other than that, Aston Villa. I quite like the city and usually have a good time in Brum and have had no trouble* with their fans but I am fed up to the back teeth of coming away from Villa Park on the losing side... which probably explains*. My personal record: 0-3, 1-4 (cup) 1-2, 1-4, 0-4, 0-2.
The presentation team of Match of the Day, except Gabby Logan or Jacqui Oakley if she is allowed to appear.
I have a feeling that Sky and BBC are going to get regular mentions on here next season for their even handedness and complete lack of bias... I found it interesting yesterday to note that BBC's coverage of the parade included interviews with supporters but nothing at all with the players or, indeed, any club representative.
