you cant have the success we have had without picking up petty enemies. these QPR lot sound just the same as the colchester lot, the ipswich lot. Hell, every team we've trampled on on our way to the top. It's the price of being so successful, some will always try and ride your coat-tails
Uh no. Norwich fans didn't give a monkey's about Rangers being docked points, we were more concerned with our own happiness at successive promotions. I would suggest that the QPR reaction had much to do with the rather unpleasant people running the club rubbing off on the fans. Having watched the film about QPR I found it interesting that the early season run, that ultimately gained promotion, coincided with the Indian bloke in charge telling the director of football to cut out the negative name calling and be positive about the team and the performances. Oddly the unbeaten run ended with the return of Briatori. As for finances, I suggest you have a look at the Telegraph article regarding QPR's losses. This is made doubly important given the moves by the Football league to bring in some form of financial fair play. Your owners can have all the money they want but they still may find themselves without the opportunity to spend it, without expanding the ground and the financial base of the club.
But 80k a week is not 'silly money' for a newly promoted team, with a capacity of around 20,000, apparently.
That's the tragedy of your situation. Though no doubt if you do survive everyone will declare it is because of Mr Barton and his ilk.
"Loftus Road is a football stadium located in Shepherd's Bush, London. It is home to the English football team Queens Park Rangers of the Premier League and has a capacity of around 18,500. Loftus Road is the smallest stadium in the Premier League." Quotes above courtesy of wikipedia. I went once, in about 2003, collected my ticket from a portacabin outside - and the stewards wouldn't let me in. The razor sharp staff had only given me a ticket to the home end, despite me being decked out in yellow and green So, in getting it changed, I missed 10 or 12 minutes. But it finished QPR 2 - NCFC (and legroom) 0. Not my best 'away day' as a Norwich fan!
Q.P.R; for thinking they can buy survival, plus Mark Hughes is a moaning twat. Bolton; because their manager wears full kit, as if he was still playing. Aston Villa; because their manager is a traitor, and rubbish as well. Teams I don't want to see promoted into the Premiership; West Ham. West Ham. West Ham. ILD OTBC
Who I WANT to go down. 1. Wigan - Never regarded them as a football club and even now in the PL with a lovely new stadium they can't fill the bloody thing! Rose to the PL thanks mostly to a sugar daddy, now it's time to fade away to L1 or L2 2. Wolves - because erm, we just don't like them very much. Hate Wolves & Ipswich, we only hate Wolves & Ipswich. 3. Couldn't care less as long as it's not us. Blackburn - another sugar daddy team but at least they can draw 20,000+ sometimes. Bolton - Never liked or disliked. Not exactly a team to storm the top 6 at any point in the future, just another mid table nothing side. QPR - Wouldn't really want them to go down because of the potential for financial problems. Do not like seeing teams going to the wall as Pompey could be in the near future. Villa - Might be just out of reach for 2 teams to catch them. Would be funny if they went down though having the former blue nose for a manager having taken the other Brummy team down last season
I don't think we've tried to buy success at all. Warnock worked wonders getting us up without spending a great deal compared to many teams in the Championship. He was given next to nothing in the summer by Briatore because he was looking to sell meaning we missed out on the likes of Morison, Graham and even Routledge and had to make do with free signings (except DJ Campbell who cost £1.25m, and we were only able to buy him by selling our best centre-half as he was one of the few players that could command a reasonable fee) which were never going to be good enough but it was all we could get in, the likes of Bothroyd and Gabbidon. By the time Fernandes was in charge we had a very limited time to do any business and had to gamble on Barton, Wright-Phillips etc because there wasn't much else available. Warnock lost the dressing room, in no small part because he wasn't able to get in the sort of players he really wanted imo and it's only recently that we've been in a position to spend some money and even then with the aim of achieving the short-term goal of keeping us up rather than younger players for the next several years. I know messageboards are highly unrepresentative of a fanbase in general but the Norwich fans on the Pink'un were by far the most in favour of a points deduction at the time. Even if most of you don't like us, you surely would rather a Saturday in London next season than in Wigan, Bolton or Blackburn?
As I said at the time, too many people were just spouting opinions based on no actual facts, mostly because no-one other than QPR and the FA knew much about the charges. Not even the newspapers could actually list the 7 charges against QPR! If there is one thing that really bothers me about football forums and some of the people that contribute to them is they base their opinions on little or no knowledge and it is frequently simply jumping on the bandwagon of their peers. Rise above it and take their words with a pinch of salt - they are morons
The pink'un board!!! Dear o dear, you actually do get people on there wanting lambert out Says it all really... As for the points thing, wasnt really interested tbh and the end of the day QPR were where they were on merit and deserved promotion
