People from Scarborough have a choice of picking Hull, York or Boro, they're all local league clubs(considering they don't have a league club less than 40 miles away).

Maybe you need to get out and travel a bit more, recent developments lead me to believe that being forced to watch crappy local clubs by your Dad may lead to you becoming angry bitter and twisted in later life.<ok>

Id fancy Norwich at Elland road if they win tonight. Hopefully Messi will have joined us by then and we can show the ex Leeds brigade what they're missing

Why should it matter whether it's a league club or a non-league one?

You'd be fine with people from Hull supporting Leeds/York provided you were in the fifth division rather than the fourth, third, second or first? Seems a very arbitrary line to draw.

I'll bet there are Scarboro Athletic fans who hate Hull in the same freakish way your lot hate Leeds. 'It's just Scarborough/North Yorkshire Tigers who we hate'. <laugh>

The only consistent people are those who totally insist on parochialism and those who don't mind people choosing any club which appeals to them. The latter are the only people who don't tend towards hypocrisy and inconsistency.

    Let people choose.

Scarborough Athletic are in the ninth or tenth tier of English football, I think the lads that play in the field opposite my house are in a higher league.

I'm sure that people in Scarborough hope they do well and many will claim to support them in addition to a professional club, but watching an amateur team with 300ish other hardy souls, in a ground in another town, is very different to following a professional football team. We can all support our local pub team, while also following a proper club, that's what the nice folks of Scarborough do.

People are free to chose a random club, just because they are more successful than their local club, equally I'm free to slag them off for doing so. It's a free country.

The simple side to this argument is just, support your local team? Why wouldn't you? Why else would clubs be named after towns? People who are from say Hull and support Manchester United, are idiots. Equally so are those who are from Hull and support Leeds, it's ridiculous. I don't care if you've supported Leeds all your life or not, if you aren't from there and none of your close family members are either, in my book, you are a twat.

Knowing you lot you will get a **** team and go out in the next round. You will probably be better off getting one of the bigger teams at Elland Road

you chose the easy option, follow the local sheep 1/2 mile to the ground and £2 get in[1977 prices].I on the other hand chose to support the team all the locals hated as I have a mind of my own,I had to save and work to go most games as train travels not cheap to a 14year old.I few lads at school tried to bully me into supporting the mancs or scousers and had to learn the hard way not to fook with Leeds fans.I had my first season ticket at 16 and an understanding english teacher who accepted i needed to leave his class 30mins early to catch my train [midweek games].I would get back 1am and be at school on time next day as that was the agreement with the teacher.I've spent much more money and traveled more miles following my team than any fan who follows his local club and consider myself a very loyal fan.My local birth town club who i never considered following is Nantwich town.

" You chose the easy option, follow the local sheep" That is one of the most stupid things I have ever heard on these forums. Its not following everyone else its being loyal to your town, and I believe the club you first go to watch you fall in love with and to most people, that is their local team as it should be.

No, the reason I support Leeds is because my whole family support leeds. I was a fan during the champions league days and what not but oddly I became far more invested with them when they got relegated as thats when my family were able to get to go to elland road twice a month. Went to far more away games really though

Your just jealous that your petty club don't have a worldwide fanbase
