With Hyam, Skuse and Tabb in midfield we have zero pace and creatvity, just graft!! The back 4 is fine and we have good cover, i would imagine Parr will start sooner rather than later. I think we need a speedy poacher up top and maybe drop Didsy a little deeper. We are sooooo slow and predictable at the moment!!
Sorry Canary Dave but Mick still goes out looking for the same old and anyone slightly diffetent gets bombed!! As i said, if he was given money he would not go out and look for a speedy flair player!!
League is far more important but I agree we should have played the first team on Tuesday WELL DONE FOR GOING BY THE WAY. I think it's far to early to be righting things off. From what I heard on the radio we played quite well today I'm sure if it was against ten men we would have won. Did we not look very good in the flesh today then Warky....?? Plenty of season to go and Mick is still the man to take us forward.
Maybe Mick is the man Weighty but if we dont bring in any more and a bit more quality, we will not be up there fighting for a playoff spot!!
I think we have a chance at play offs as last season proves but I agree we will bring in one or two more to push on.
Weighty we don't disagree that Mick is the man as I've been saying all along ever since he arrived! What annoys me the most is that we seem quite content now to just pick up players that no other fecker seems to want! Mick is a genius when it comes to making average players better but the problem is that we have far too many average players!
If Mick can get hold of players that he wants for nowt I don't really care if no one else wants them as long as they can do the job if it's straight away or with some coaching from MM and TC.
Our entire starting midfield today were all defensive minded, this is half our problem, toooooo bloody negative!! Once again, rather than go out to win, we set up to not lose but if we conceed first we are in trouble!!
I think missing spark is definitely correct. We have players to compete but other than McGoldrick we don't have anyone who can change a game with a splash of something special. I think the thing is MM would rather have workrate over flair anyday. Someone with all the attributes needed is probably out of our financial range. Williams had both grit and guile and there was no way we could have got him. MM wont accept lazy so it looks like we will settle for safe.
Was at the game guys, on my sixth pint now and about to tear up Bristol so I'll just say the following before giving quite an indepth review tomorrow. I'll try to be fair. 1 - How the hell Mings is a professional football is beyond me. Absolute garbage. 2- Murphy was invisible 3- Reading had three shots all game......... 4 - The game was absolutely horrific it wouldn't have looked out of place in league 2. Spanish if you were here we would be both going mental and drinking like I'm going to tonight. I will try to choose my words carefully tomorrow but to say I am upset at spending £30 to watch that absolute garbage ( from both teams ) would be a mass understatement.
Ps - " Once again, rather than go out to win, we set up to not lose but if we conceed first we are in trouble!! " It may be the drink talking Spanish, but this lot won't be coming back from 2-0 down this season.
Spanish, I did go today, I may post a summary of the game tomorrow when I am on more of an even keel. Westy does have a point we were bloody awful 1st half, better 2nd with the intro of Anderson, too many had an off day...including MM. We set up as westy says not to loose, conceded a bloody awful goal, then chasing the rest if the game, I do however believe we were worth a point today, Reading are just as average as us! Didsy had an off day (re goal) when he does not fire we look very toothless, Murph missed a sitter and Mings should have buried a header, we had better chances than them but same as last season not converting enough of them into goals. My big issue with MM (apart from The Nouble one) is that everything is safety first, but when that goes wrong, as it did today we have no plan B or C. Why he does not go with a more attacking 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 is beyond me, with the three decent CBs we have it is crying out for us to adopt this system, but he is so bloody stuck in his ways it is getting a bit bloody frustrating. We have any number of players who can play wing back, Didsy would be better served playing slightly deeper for me in front of Hyam & Skuse, with say Murph & Jack up top, get the likes of Parr, Henshall or Anderson wide and we have a far more balanced team that protects us defensively but with more bite going forward. Sorry turned into a bit of a rant but after the debacle that was Tuesday and now today's well below average performance things need to improve!
Guys the 3 cb's has been mentioned many times but it will never happen and i too think Dids would be best suited just behind strikers!!
I know Mick is supposed to be good at getting the best out of average players but you can't help thinking that a different manager would adopt a different shape with the squad we have.
