It's wrong isn't it. They didn't want him any more, hence the sale. Should he score he should celebrate (although not quite in an Adebayor style..)
I'd play Quinn and Meyler in a 5 man midfield with Aluko or Sagbo up front. Spoil the game first with a loaded midfield.
He'd be fine - we're not asking him to hold it up. He would play his usual game and attack from deep running at defenders with the ball at his feet, or off the last shoulder of a defender and wait for those exquisite passes from Huddlestone.
Aluko couldn't play as a lone striker, he's got plenty of skill, but he can't hold the ball up at all, it would just keep coming back at us.
This is why English football is ****, everyone is obsessed with someone who can hold the ball up. He can probably hold the ball better than most as his ball retention is brilliant.
It will be a difficult game defensively for City. That's why I think SB will go with Meyler above Quinn. He gives you more defensively than Quinn. If it had been at Home I would have gone for Quinn. I would also play Sagbo as the loan striker. He has plenty of pace, can hold the ball up and then bring players into play when we hit them on the break. Play Aluko just behind him.
When you're playing away at a very strong side you're going to need make the ball stick. We're not Barcelona or Spain who can play without a striker.
West Ham played without a striker, worked well for them. Some would say we have been playing without a striker
Who needs strikers? Not Sam Allardyce for this London derby. The West Ham United manager's response to his team's failure to score on their travels this season en route to White Hart Lane was to ape Spain's European Championship-winning 4-6-0 formation. The result was a performance and result beyond the dreams of the club's supporters. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/06/tottenham-west-ham-premier-league
Ricardo Vaz Te is a striker and he started, when he came of he was replaced by Carlton Cole, who is also a striker. Doesn't look anything like a 4-6-0 to me.
I didn't watch the game - but most reports did comment on WHU's 'strikerless' formation. Vaz Te may well have been playing wide right, but as I say I didn't watch it. Edit: seems Downing was cutting in from the right and Vaz Te from the left, with four CMs taking turns to bomb forward. http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/image...0/293/Spurs0-3WestHam_original.jpg?1381137032
