Except Norways activity is down in the thirties Leo 115hrs work in 11 straight days now the house electrics can be replaced!!! Next mission the roof! then the garage !
That's a fault with the site, you should be able to lock your own thread, silly not to be able to. I'd message Mick but there's no point lol. But i do hope, if you could, you wouldn't Ak!
H- anyone who wants their own thread locked or removed only has to ask a Mod - its part of what we are here for coz you are all too polite and legal for us to be able to do BBC style modding
i know that Leonardo, i just don't think it should be necessary. Someone who starts a thread should have the right to close/delete it. Just like anyone making a post should have the right to delete it
Hmm - I agree with deleting your own posts but once you have started a thread it becomes "public property" - imagine if Ak decided to pull the nest - we have all invested a lot of banter there. I think on our site we are all amiable and responsible but if you look at some sites it could be chaotic if people could pull threads they started just because they did not like the way the conversations were going I would be cross if someone deleted posts I had made - which is why as a mod I don't delete others unless illegal
i think there has to be a balance there, if you realise you have triplicated an article then there is no reason the creator should not be able to remove his/her article. I agree that you should not be able to delete random posts unless you are a mod.
How often will someone triplicate an article - and if they do - does it hurt for them to ask a mod to deal with it - there is far greater danger in random people closing and deleting threads. As I said before - I think on here we would be OK but the Administrators of the Site need to deal with all people at all clubs so there is no chance they will agree to all and sundry closing threads - it will not happen - and it should not Could you imagine if Duck, Zero , Peruke could close threads
thats fair enough, but we are not saying let everyone close random threads, only the author of the thread and a mod can delete it. It would not have to be triplicate, but if there was a time when you got the answer and thought we dont need it now, then you would just delete it with one click, why should you have to bother a mod to do a simple task? its just a suggestion.
i regularly post on another site where creators of threads can pull their own posts. Sometimes it's because their question has been answered or their point is no longer valid. They are adult enough to know that if there are other points on the thread, they leave it be. I'm sure not606 can leave responsible adults to make responsible decisions. It's something i feel strongly about. Often, if someone is upset that their comments on that pulled post have gone, there will always be someone else who finds it and reposts it on an alternative thread. Nothing is impossible and it should be well within the initiators rights to pull their own post. If i created a thread and asked you to pull it, would you tell me you couldn't because other people had posted on it? If you would, i'd say that's taking modship too far. Sorry, i just don't think it's right that mods should stop someone from deleting their own thread. /rant! lol
I have to say, that is something i agree with. I know some have said that it will lead to people deleting posts wily-nilly. but it wont because you limit it so that on the the poster or a mod can delete the comment or thread. It works on comments so why not on threads.
exactly. It's not like anyone can just delete any old thread, it's only the person who created it (who should have every right to delete their own thread) and a mod, if necessary. Though obviously not before discussion with the person who began the thread. I'm glad you agree BHD, maybe you can have a word with Mick since he doesn't respond to any of my messages.
I know we are nothing like the old 606, but that was one thing they had going, you could edit and delete your own posts and no one else (other than the mods) could do it. It just means we can correct mistakes, clarify things or delete it if need be. I will contact Mick and see what he says. He may not be able to do anything, but there may be plenty of others who agree. we shall see.
Coolio...it feels a bit patronising without that facility to be honest. We're not kids...ya know? anyway, see what you can do
I have a feeling that our Mick doesn't like to hear that many suggestions, i could be wrong, but since he's ignored all of mine, i'm guessing he likes to keep things as they are...
Im sure he doesnt ignore you on purpose, his activity is low so it could mean he is just too busy to personally respond. We shall see.
Jury will remain out on that one...but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Though like i said the other day, a quick "thanks for your message, we'll consider it" would have been nice, busy or not...doesn't take more than a few seconds to be courteous.
yeah I know, we shall see if he answers this time. I shall mention the question comes from a member on our board, he may remember then and get back to you
It's not one of the suggestions i sent him...but i don't mind you mentioning it came from me...i often think of things that could be improved...i just now keep them to myself lol...mainly about the app though, and one or two things on the site..including this..
If you want to send a Pm to me with the suggestions i can put them to Mick and see if i get an answer for you. but i cant promise anything.
