Who Milner? Chelsea have the best team, city are good but not totally in my view the finished article
Quite a few. As I said, nice guy but I don't rate him at all. I didn't rate Mancini either. City have had by far and away the best squad for years. They should have walked a few titles instead of falling over the line twice.
To be fair any fixture where we get at least a point is easy. Some seasons we got so many easy fixtures that we win titles which wasn't really fair to all the other teams that had to play hard fixtures.
We're gonna win the league, we're gonna win the league, and now you're gonna believe us, now you're gonna believe us...
No offence, Carl, but I get frustrated every time I read something like this. Bookies can't see the future any more than the rest of us. In a professional sense, they're not interested in what happens, only in making money out of it. They use time- tested algorithms to make sure that they make a profit whatever the outcome, and they constantly adjust their odds to ensure that. If we went on a winning run and climbed to 4th the odds would shorten to reflect that.
Our last 10 games have produced 5 wins 4 draws and only 1 loss. But that is not the point. It is the turn around in both style and the ability to win ugly if necessary (which you have to admit has become a hallmark of Mourinho) which are the telling signs. If, as we should, we beat Leicester then we will have taken 10 out of 12 points over the holidays - which is top 4 performance levels!
We still have a long way to go. I think we will finish around 6th sadly. The two games midweek against the chavs don't help us at all in the New Year.
If you want to take league results only then I still point to our holiday results so far. As I have said elsewhere we are nowhere near a honed performing side yet but change is underway. Luckilly for us the majority of our usual challengers have also been off-colour in the 1st half of the season but show little sign of true improvement. Of those that have, I truly believe United's defensive frailties will bite them harder in the bum than ours, Spurs are relying upon the performance of 1 very young player (dangerous) and Arsenal are flattering to decieve.
You got extremely lucky at Burnley and you did alright last night, you've hardly morphed into title challengers.
Well I hope so, would very much like Liverpool to improve and start taking some points off our rivals (as long as you roll over at the Bridge ). You are right though, other than ourselves and City, everyone has been a little off colour so far, which is why 3rd and 4th are still open to anybody. If you are going to oust anybody from the top 4, I wouldn't want it to be Arsenal, as they might sack Wenger and get a decent manager if you do that, so try to knock United out. I am sure you guys would prefer that anyway
Nobody has said that we have morphed into title challengers. That's just a figment of your BITTER imaginings! What most of us are saying is that somehow there are positive signs of improvement and the a top 4 spot could be on if we stay on this kind of track
I maintain that this is something of a half truth built up by the media after the shambles of the early part of the season, and one game in particular, when the team was coping with unprecedented injuries and a new system. The half truth has subsequently been latched onto by those incapable of original and objective thought. Whilst our defence still has a lot of room for improvement, it's by no means the Keystone Cops outfit that some seem to believe. There's no doubt that things have got better recently thanks to a more settled unit (albeit one that includes two wingers) and the return of Carrick to either play as one of the central three or to sit in front of them. Jones has also made a difference as while he is prone to the odd clanger (as are the other two "senior" centre halves, most notably Evans) he is a better player than some want to give him credit for (I still think he will develop into a very good centre half given a run in that position, which he's never had, and time, he's still only 22). We've conceded 6 goals in our last ten league games and our goals against column is the fourth best in the league. If that's a frail defence then I'll take it. No doubt that is all down to luck. Stay lucky.
Christ 1 win and all of a sudden we're brilliant again! The problems still remain people, although I would hope we are now on the up. As I've said on anther thread, I don't believe we'll touch City, Chelsea and United. That leaves Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton to overtake for 4th, and as it is I don't see us doing that. I see us pipping 1 of the above and getting 6th. A long way to go, whether you're positive or negative.
YOU were saying that you could overtake everyone barring the top 2, off the back of a couple of results and 1 decent performance. You're on ****ing crack
Maintain all you want but it does not make it true. Without your goalie being in blinding form the true frailty of your so called defence would be well and truly exposed and your points tally would reflect that.
Well as you have a history of being negative then I find your comments encouraging - but of course wrong!
