Little bit harsh, I'd say I have a fair grasp of basic tactics, but I'd still be more than willing to try Ben Arfa at RW/RM/LM/LW...It would perhaps mean restricting Tiote a little and having him drop back a into a wider position to offer protection to our RB/LB, but HBA would offer so much more going forward it wouldn't necessarily be a negative move (also, perhaps part o the problem is that our RB/LB require so much cover!).

Look at when we had Lauren Robert in the midfield - he was notorious for being terrible at tracking back - was he a good player who offered a lot to the team? ****ing right he was!

I might have been a bit harsh, but the amount of people who think it's just "well he played on the wing in France, so play him on the wing" without any thought as to how that would work annoys me. Obertan's frustrating but he at least helps Simpson out, and hugs the touchline for the majority. Not to mention the fact that it is hardly the time to experiment with players out of position like that, we had friendlies to try him there.

So this thread gets brought up when we're on a **** run? Coincidence don't you think? I mean, it didn't get brought up when we were unbeaten.

Aye, like Shola coming on as a sub against Spurs and scoring the equaliser.

Some people are just never happy even though we're still doing well compared to last year.

Relax , I'm just saying that his subs have been wrong for the last three weeks. Surely I'm allowed to point that out? I'm not saying we should sack the board and sack the manager just haven't been impressed by his substitutions at all. Ameobi's goal against Spurs wasn't a master class substitution by Pardew , it was a freak moment that will happen once in a blue moon. Ameobi's **** whether he scores a hat trick next week or not , simply not good enough for the Premier League.

There's no guarantee that Ben Arfa would have scored against Swansea or Norwich either though, it's pure speculation.

I didn't mean it like that <ok> I just mean that when we went unbeaten for ages, no one seemed to complain. But now we've hit a rough patch, all this is starting to surface.

Haha OK sorry , but honestly I've said it for a while , he always makes his subs when it's too late and when he makes them they're often the wrong ones. But some people only start to listen when we go through a rough patch.

If I made this thread in September/October during our winning streak then I would have been slated for being pessimistic and would have been told that I should just enjoy the 3 points and stop being negative :D

There's never a good time haha!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to comment in reply to this seriously pathetic post.

Believe it or not, it is perfectly possible to engage in a match without standing up and chanting. I used to sit in the Leazes corner with my mate, and he missed quite a few goals because he was so busy facing and chanting at the away support!

Secondly, you use "middle-class" (here and in a later post) as some form of insult. I can only assume you have a chip on your shoulder, because chanting at games has absolutely nowt to do with how much you earn or your lifestyle.

Thirdly, I sat in the Gallowgate yesterday, and although it was generally quite subdued, I thought the atmosphere was still decent at times. Oh, and don't be pathetic and taint a stadium of 50,000 people with the same brush. People who paid for their tickets can enjoy the game however they please without people like you judging them.

I probably shouldn't have bothered replying to this tbh, anyone who uses "middle-class" as an insult is probably beyond reason.

I would rather just lose Best, I know he's been good for us this season but imo the best 11 has to have HBA in the hole behind Ba, that's just me though

My apologies. I forgot that 4-4-2 was the only possible way Newcastle can play.

****, we've got issues if we can't juggle a few players around. Might as well sell HBA in January then.

How about sitting Tiote a little deeper, bringing Cabaye and Jonas inside a little (on the left and right respectively) in a narrower midfield 3 and playing Shola left, HBA right and Ba through the middle?

Doesn't take that much of a leap of faith does it?

Who knows if HBA's injury is more serious than we thought? Maybe we bought our own version version of Ledley King who can own play every other week (may explain why he only cost £5M) or maybe Pards is protecting him for when Ba is away at ACoN? Dunno.

HBA is God and would win every game for us.

    Shola is ****e.

    Obertan is worse than Shola.

I don't where this idea that Ben Arfa can't play wide in a 442 has come from. Indeed his best game in a B&W shirt came wide in 442. He also played it several times in France for Marseille and Lyon (he mainly play wide in a 433 at both). He is certainly a better winger in a 442 than both Obertan and Sammi. Pardew got it wrong but as I say its not the end of the world, managers all make mistakes. He has got the vast majority of things right in his time here.

I don't do many away games so I missed Everton (his goal notably scored from the middle of the pitch), but in the Stoke game at home he showed no interest whatsoever in playing on the wing, drifting inside even more than Guthrie would. I'm no expert on the French game, and I've no doubt an awful lot of moaners here would admit the same, but from what I've seen of him as a Premiership player he's less of a winger than Obertan. Sammi I'll agree with though, but I'm not criticising Pards subs choices without knowing the reasons.

In Ben Arfa's best game, he was playing left wing in a 4-4-1-1, drifted inside the entire game and if he had ****ed up, he had Enrique behind him so it was fine anyway. And did someone seriously suggest this:

    Tiote
    Cabaye Jonas

    HBA--------------Shola
    Ba
