Quinn has been great for our club, there is no denying that fact, but he is not infallable either.

For me he has made 2 gambles that have "just" paid off.

Sbargia after keane left
No replacement for Bent

We bought ses in January, we got Muntari in on loan, yes its hindsight but why get Muntari in when we could have done with a striker on loan, which to me was more important at the time.

Bruce even says they were looking at somebody but they didnt think the finances were right for the deal, which to me lies in Quinns and Shorts area, not Bruces, but Bruce said it collectively they were to blame for that, not just Quinn and Short.

Saying Quinn should go is wrong imo, but making him out like he is infallable and not to blame at all is also wrong, he is only human and humans make blunders.

I agree with all that

7th was defiantly achievable and will be again next season with the squad we have and few tidy additions over the summer.
No one could have foreseen the injury burden we have had to carry this term. We can't yet afford to have a like for like replacement in every position like the Man U's of the world and have suffered terribly.
If it turns out that Bruce is at fault with his training regime then yes. He should be judged. If it turns out that it's just bloody bad luck then I can't see how anyone at the club can be blamed for our poor run. Including Bruce.

Its a good job the real world isn't run on such ideology as to suggest NO-ONE is to blame for such failings?

Bruce is responsible for the one huge glaring error of allowing personal issue to cloud the good of the club and got rid of Bent. Don't accept it was all Bent. It wasnt. Bruce was fuming at the relationship between his daughter and Bent and issued an ultimatum to Quinn. Me or him.

7th is as far away from us today as it ever will be under Bruce. He isn't big enough to handle 7th.

Quinn must take some responsibility, he is paid to run the club by short and possibly he is too much of a nice guy to kick some arse when needed. I think it's obvious he needs to kick some arse now if we are to sort out our problems.

Is Quinny responsible for where we are today? Yes. Has he made mistakes? Yes.But he deserves praise not blame.

Investing in a football club for profit makes no sense. There is no alternative that I can see to SKY and maybe 14 of the current clubs are losing money every year. Sooner rather than later the EPL bubble will burst.

SAFC is "A FOOTBALL CLUB" and will survive because of it's supporters of which Niall Quinn and Ellis Short are two.

see we're totally split, betwwen quinn takes some blame, and he's not to blame.

suprised no one voted that he was to blame, after all the comments on sat. night after the match...

I think with the exception of West Brom and Newcastle, prior to the season starting everybody would have placed you in the position you are in now, in that not many would have expected you to finish above Everton, Bolton, Fulham, Liverpool, Stoke, Villa and the top 5. When Sunderland were occupying 5th/6th it was a complete false dawn, Everton, Liverpool being the 2 major forces missing from that end of the table through poor performances. With form coming good for the teams which we all expected to pick up form, Sunderland have come off worse than any other team, with injuries coming thick and fast the wheels just completely came off your season.

I don't think anybody is to blame, other teams just got into their stride and your run of fixtures from the beginning of the year have found you out. Bent leaving could have contributed to your demise, but you only have to look at West Ham to see that acquiring striking replacements didn't make much difference, or at Newcastle to show that even without their talisman they managed to finish the season relatively strongly in their case.

Not many teams look at SAFC as a fixture where they expect to drop points as from an outsider looking in, you had a slightly better morale in your squad than Blackpool did this year, which has earned you enough points to survive, but it had nothing to do with the quality on the pitch, more the togetherness of your squad. What I'm trying to say is that it wasn't necessarily a bad patch you went through, it was more a very good patch which distorted expectations.

I loved Bruce as a player but he has never delivered at managerial level in anything other than finding the odd bargain here and there. Bruce shouldn't be blamed but I think you would be better off without his services. Good luck for next year, you can keep that Henderson kid he's nowhere near United quality.

I'd say Quinn is partially to blame. As he says himself, him and Bruce gambled on the fitness of Welbeck and Campbell and it hasn't paid off. Therefore he must be partially to blame.

Quinny is an excellent, honest and down to earth man and as has already been stated, he'd readily acknowledge this fault himself. He's not going to sit in the boardroom and wash his hands of our season's second half- he'll accept mistakes were made, and he'll crack on improving them for next season.

He's a credit to the club and is the best chairman in the league. He's the type of guy who will accept some responsibility and he'll look forward and make sure the club learns from its mistakes. He's single-handedly transformed (and is transforming) this club and there has to be a learning curve involved. The man is a legend.

Although i see some of your points
I expected with Bent and the squad we had to finish above Stoke Fulham Bolton and compete with Everton you don't say where you are from but you know nothing about the North East football fan
