Couldn't be fussed over applying because of the ridiculous ticket purchase process. I did find it amusing that beach volleyball was hideously over subscribed!!! Perverts!!! I would have liked to have watched cycling or sailing, the rest is just gash.
I find it amazing the price of the tickets to watch these atheletes, who,s names have been largely unknown as the various British sports bodies has been well reported for not being affluent in funding, or promoting their individual progress throughout their years of training . Now London has the olympics, the organizers will make sure that we are all aware of their names, and their endurances to make it to the finals, so that they can then make more money with advertizing deals etc. while they have their snouts in the cash trough.
I applied for a few events over three days and got none. Ended up buying a break deal for Boxing through Thomas cook, and managed to add Hockey yesterday, costing me about £300 for me and the missus to see two events and a night in London, so not too bad really. I think love of the olympics depends on love of sport, if your only interested in football the olympics wont interest you, between me and the missus we play or have played football, rugby (not an olympic sport unfortunately), Judo, Boxing, Tennis, Hockey, Canoeing and sailing. So to us the olympics is a great thing. The whole ticket allocation however is a farce, in the "first round" only the rich or lucky got tickets, we applied for tickets that we could easily afford and wanted to go to, yet those with the money could apply for thousands of pounds worth of tickets. Unfortunately the average man has been overlooked again, by committees in suits completely out of touch with the general public
was lucky enough to get tickets for two events. my wife has yet to discover that one of them is the ladies beach volleyball. sssh.
