I was born in central Europe during the mid-1960s; my place of birth is twinned with Southwell, Nottinghamshire
I made my name as a powerfully built striker; I reached the UEFA Cup semi-final with my Italian side and am still their record scorer in Serie A
I represented my country at one World Cup, scoring five goals (including a hattrick) to become the second highest scorer of the competition
I ended my playing career back in my homeland; I now work as a football pundit and nightclub owner

I was born in North America during the mid-1950s; at the age of 15 I signed a professional contract with English side Reading
I played almost 50 times for my country, including at one World Cup and one Summer Olympics; I later managed my country’s national team for a period of five years
The bulk of my playing career was spent in Vancouver; I played all eleven positions during this tenure, and I am now recognised as a legend of the CONCACAF
Over the last thirty years, I have held various roles within football, including head coach, general manager, chief executive and commentator; in 2005, I received my country’s highest civilian honour

I was born in South America during the 1940s; legend has it that I once scored over forty goals in a single primary school match
I made my professional debut at the age of 15 but retired just 12 years later due to a recurring eye problem; I spent my whole career in my homeland, including scoring 249 goals in 378 matches for one club
I played at two World Cups, winning one of them; I played as an improvised striker during this success, scoring two goals in the process
After retiring from football, I became a medical doctor; however, I eventually returned to the sport, working as a pundit and journalist

    (Gloryland, in Gloryland

    (You're here in Gloryland)

    It started with a feeling

and a dream was born in you

You hope and pray that come the day

you'll see that dream come true.

    With every passing moment

    you begin to understand

    that you're bound for Gloryland.

With a hunger in your heart

and with fire in your soul,

    with passion rising high,

you know that you can reach your goal.

    Believe in what you do

and you've the strength to see it through

    on the road to Gloryland.

    (and I say...)

    Gloryland, in Gloryland

it's in your heart, it's in your hand.

    In Gloryland, in Gloryland,

    you're here in Gloryland.

    This is Gloryland.

As the day gets ever closer

you are reaching for the sky.

    the flames that burn inside

are the flames that never die.

    When you start to believe

    it's in your heart,

    it's in your hand.

    You know, this is gloryland.

    (and I say...)

    Gloryland in Gloryland,

    it's in your heart,

    it's in your hand

    in Gloryland, hey Gloryland.

    You're here in Gloryland.

Ponders did say "no link required" but if what you say is true then I think you should get Ciaran´s prize. I really can´t stand that ****.

BAH is quite correct with his added information, yet I didn't stipulate the need for a link, so on this occasion I have no issue with Ciaran rightly claiming his wonderful prize. Besides, had I requested a link, I feel confident Ciaran would have supplied it at the time.
Let's put this behind us and eagerly await the next quiz, eh? :)

Cool enough when you first get in but was very nice after a few minutes. I did however get slightly sunburnt on my shoulders, nothing too drastic though <ok>

I was born in western Europe during the 1950s; I survived cancer at the age of 25
I played 50 times for my country; I became a national star after my heroics in 1984 and 1986
I never left my homeland, playing approximately 500 matches for three teams; I took up coaching once my playing career ended
In addition to two volumes of poetry, I released an album and three singles at the height of my career

I was born in South America soon after the turn of the 20th century; my nickname came about because I lost an arm as a teenager
I once played in a match where the referee had to leave the field after being badly beaten by the players; the match came to its conclusion after six months
I achieved glory at club level and on the international scene, including World Cup and Olympic glory
As a coach, I won five national championships; I suffered a fatal heart attack in 1960

I was born in the Caribbean during the late 1960s; I turned my back on a university education (in Florida) to pursue my football career
My big break came in Portugal, where I even played under Bobby Robson for two seasons; I am the first from my country to play in the UEFA Champions League
I enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Scotland and twice won the Player of the Year Award; one blight, however, was a charge of drunk driving
I’ve coached in both Scotland and Portugal, and now I’m involved with my national team
