Totally disagree, with the best will in the world our 2 young strikers will make their mark in that division, the stall is set for their intro. I can see Grayson bringing a carthorse in though, been around the blocks but worth his weight in this league. The strength in depth you talk about is sort of there but additions are always a plus. We are a hell of a lot better equipped than the relegated side of 2006 that Keane took over. I do think any side would be dross, would think dross and sleep dross when the manager states after 2 games that they are dross and will be in a relegation battle. Last season was a jigsaw effect, it started from the top and hit right at the bottom.. Just enjoy your season mate, I'm sure there will be a fanfare of events to laugh at..
Two games in a week regularly, sometimes three. That's why you need a big squad. Fatigue. So you either spread the game time to keep players fit or get loads of injuries, either way a big squad is needed. 36 would be my absolute minimum including youngsters(remembering most the youngsters aren't at this level yet). Need to bring a lot of players in. Still loads of time though.
Mannone Mika Stryjek Jones Kone Djilobodji Galloway Browning Oshea Ledger Oviedo Love Beadling T.Robson Cattermole Ndong Rodwell Gibson E.Robson Honeyman Embleton Watmore Gooch Molyneux Greenwood Khazri Lens Asoro Maja Don't see where this notion that we are woeful short comes from. No way do we need 40 players, that's absolutely preposterous. We need Mcgeady and two strikers. Gradel if Lens and or Khazri leave
Mags used 27 players last season(squad of 31 seniors and not counting youngsters). You're proposing a squad of 32 when 9 of them are kids where we have no clue if they're even up to the standard yet. On your squad we'd drown. My estimates include youth we should not have to throw in, players you draft to the bench if you're strugling for numbers. You've paid no attention to the lack of strength and depth we have imo. Scares the **** out on me that squad, especially when we're hitting two or three games in a week..
I'd hit 5 games a week for their money and time and a half for Saturday's. I'd put myself about, gain an applause now and then, stick a leg in, maybe a lamb chop if I'm peckish but judging by half of our fans, i'd hope they'd **** off early after their expensive watered lager crap..
Surely, on those occasions when the Team is playing two or three games a week, any half awake manager will take this into account in the training schedule? It's often said that playing a real game is the best sort of training so it can't be so hard do, can it?
If we can fill our squad out to this, I'd be happy. GK x 3 RB x 2 LB x 2 CB x 5 DM/CM/AM x 7 LW x 2 RW x 2 CF/ST x 4 27 players and I'd be okay with that. That's 27 genuine first team squad players with the kids as back up in case of a big injury crisis or a lot of suspensions.
I'd be happy with that too but can't see it fella. The better kids will have to make up part of the main squad and the less good youngsters as back up to that squad. I mean, I think Maja and Asoro will make up two of the four strikers I think. Just don't think we'll get 27 seniors on board.
I'd included Star Trek, Watmore, Gooch and Maja as senior players. Not Asoro mind. I think they've shown enough to be capable and relied upon now.
I certainly class Watmore and Gooch as part of the young seniors along with Love, McNair and Ndong, expecting great things from them all this year if they're to cut it. They're at the point in their careers they should be coming into their own at this level. Rest of the kids are taking a pretty big step up imo. Some will rise to it, some will fade out. One thing is for certain though. We needs lots of signings. Still not panicking though. So long as we have enough to start the season with strong starting 11 the rest of the deals will flow towards the end of the window. We'll get our best loan players in that period I reckon. No idea who Star Trek is mate.
The young keeper mate. It's one of them names I can never get right and I'm sick of googling it everytime I want to mention him. He's looked really good from what I've seen of him. Granted he's had no real experience. I'm pretty relaxed as you are, I know we are a long way off what's needed but I'm also aware we have a good 7 weeks left to finish off.
I'm relaxed about signings too. No need to panic buy wronguns when we still have seven weeks to sign players that have a bit of quality and self motivation. I trust Simon Grayson and Martin Bain to get this right for the club and us fans
Hmmm, I know we need a couple of experienced forwards, but he's a bit injury prone. Have we not learned the lessons from last season?
