If we win the FA Cup I will be as happy as a pig in ****.Personally I couldn't give a **** about our league position as long has we get a trophy
You Sir, can kindly go and ****ing do one Like Cym says, If we win the FA I'll be as happy as a pig in **** because we will have won a trophy, which is after all the very thing that those who have been moaning have been using to bash Wenger and the team endlessly with over the years.
To be honest unless Chelsea win the cl and provided we we win the fa cup AND get top 4 we will have had arguably the second best season of any of the big clubs this season, with only the eventual winners of the league bettering us.
I said at the beginning of the season that anything less than top four would be a disaster for Spurs given the huge amount of money they spent last summer. Not only have they ****ed that up, but they've sacked a decent manager, replaced him with Nice but Dim ****wood and most of those new signings are already looking for the exit door. Complete shambles up at the Lane. Can you imagine the reaction on here if we'd lashed a hundred million up the wall and had a season like Spurs' ?
No question in my mind that finishing 4th is more important than winning a trophy, something I've always said though I accept not all fans feel the same, but I can't help thinking that if we're to get a big named player or two in it's a much easier sell if you're in the World biggest club competition.
I'm old school matey and it's a trophy for me any day.I was lucky enough to be at Wembley and the euphoria I felt at the end of the game knowing we'd got to the FA Cup final was far greater than when we beat Newcastle on the final day of last season
So. supporters who expect more than we have received over the last 9 years are living in cloud cuckoo land? I accept that we have incurred a huge debt as a result of the stadium move, but that does not account for the completely unacceptable lack of investment in the team. Wenger has said on multiple occasions that spending isn't always the answer, the board have said on multiple occasions that we have money to spend if Wenger needs it and at no point has the board said that times are tight and we are going to have to make do on the minimum with a large number of mediocre players. If we truly had no flexibility in our finances, then Wenger and the board have been lying to us for the best part of a decade. Wenger's tactical ineptness has been shown up consistently this season, I think that is beyond doubt. Also, for the record, I have never abused Diaby and I think that if he stayed fit, he could be a real asset. I would be delighted if we won the FA Cup, but I don't think it will excuse Wenger from criticism. I think we are entitled to expect more than the dross we have witnessed recently.
Spud fans have got no idea how difficult the next decade is going to be for them. They have often laughed at us for falling at the final hurdle because of our lack of squad depth and having to sell our best players each summer, but we have maintained a top four position, played CL football, paid off our stadium debt and have set the club up for the future. The Spuds have none of that and yet now they want to finance a similar build to ours. With their best players already making noises that they want out, the spuds are going to get a taste of what it's like to try and maintain a decent squad whilst paying for a new stadium, and I for one hope they plummet like a ****ing stone
No question, and I'm not suggesting it's right or even a view I agree with, but I do think ity has to be in the best interests of the club to finish 4th - of course 4th and an FA Cup win and everyone's happy !
Yes they're in for a reality check, but it's a myth we've paid off our stadium debt, what we've done is reduced it significantly, re-financed the balance over a longer period and retained a ridiculously healthy 'pot' for operating expenses/transfers, a pot that has barely been touched....
That's what I meant In all seriousness though, the club have done really well to get us in this position. Let's hope we use some of that pot to buy some serious top quality talent this summer.
Off the field we are now in a position where everything is in place in terms in infrastructure (stadium, global fanbase etc) and finances (manageable debt and new sponsorship deals etc). We are in a position where we can invest in the team and compete with the other big teams. On the field if we get top 4 and win the fa cup we will be back to achieving some success and have a good platform to move forwards. The players will have a taste of winning a trophy and the no silverware tag will finally be off the clubs back. I think it's vital we win the fa cup to take that next step on the field to match our off the field success. On top of this other than Sagna we have all our key players on long term contracts.
I agree 4th and the FA Cup would be the best outcome but given the choice of one or the other for me it would be the FA Cup
Winning the FA cup would be a huge shot in the arm in terms of confidence for this team and the club as a whole. The Monkey on our backs would be firmly booted in the goolies and left wincing on the floor holding his knackers. In terms of investment, last summer was a bizarre transfer window, what with the Suarez debacle and the Bale sale pushing up the price of just about every player. In the end we did well to get Ozil in. But this summer I'd really expect us to do better. It won't be easy with the World Cup and I think a lot of business will get done at the end, but hey we're masters of the last minute deal, so maybe it will suit us this time around ?
winning the FA Cup is history and it can't be lost - just ask Wigan fans last year. they all said they would take relegation and FA cup rather than lose FA Cup and stay up. as they said if we win we are added to history and we can always get promoted. so we need to make sure we win the FA Cup, and that is the priority, and if we get 4th its a bonus.
