Probably, not sure about 20 million less though - they are still business men. Funny how United are prepared to do business when it is them taking players off rivals though (Cantona, Rio, Carrick, Van Persie, Berbatoff etc)
Here's the solution, just stick him in the reserves. If Rooney cannot keep his weight down when training with the first team I'd love to see him try and maintain his fitness with the kids. So he'd walk in 2 years time for nothing, bad deal. Can you imagine the size he'd be then!! Who honestly would want to sign the hot air balloon when he's literally the size of a hot air balloon.
I'm sure they would if we offered him around. Most clubs just don't want the hassle of trying to force a deal through when the selling club doesn't want and doesn't necessarily have to sell and thus the fee will go up and the deal might not go through anyway. Same reason only Arsenal are in for Suarez and only Real are in for Bale - if 'pool and Spurs were willing to sell at a reasonable price there would be a queue as long as your arm. Well, for Bale at least For whatever reason, Chelsea have put themselves in a situation where they are committed to the Rooney deal, and thus have to accept it may go to the wire and that they may not get their man. That's not a position most clubs would put themselves in, although given Chelsea's failure to get all their other striker targets it's probably not necessarily of their own making.
I think its the wages more than anything tbh, Rooney may want to stay in this country too/play CL footy (Monaco)
