Wenger should be trying to sign the likes of Chiellini.

    Better what?

Gary Cahill is a better 'defender' than Koscielney or Djourou. Technically he is inferior to those two yes but to be a good defender requires other attributes than just technique.

Koscielney is more athletic and technically superior to a young Tony Adams but I know who I would rather have in my team.

If we did a poll amongst United, Chelsea and Liverpool fans as to which one they would rather have - Cahill or Koscielney? Cahill would be the clear Winner.

If Cahill goes to Chelsea he'll be a big success and Arsenal fans will just look back and say 'why did'nt we sign him?'

our defence is ok apart from being injury prone , but an addition would help the team

Cahill is proven. Less likely to move on.

I agree.<ok> .... and injuries have cost us dear over the last few seasons. If we lose Vermaelen or Koscielney for any length of time we would undoubtedly struggle. We've also lost Clichy, so one of our defenders may cover for LB too. I think the addition of another CB is a real priority for us.

Complete 'rose-tinted' denial. You can keep saying it but it doesnt make it true. Neither Koscielney or Djourou would make it anywhere near Chelsea's first team.

Do you even watch Arsenal? This is the team the REGULARLY throws away games with inept defending - To claim that's purely a tactical issue is completely ****ing stupid.

Koscielney will NEVER be a Word Class centreback and neither will Djourou.

    Let me remind you:

Barcelona, Dortmund, Real Madrid, Manchester United all play attacking football - The main difference is that they have World Class defensive personnel.

The whole footballing World tell us that we need a better defence to compete and guess what THEY ARE RIGHT. (43 league goals is also unequivocal proof of this)

In 2009-2010 Season (while playing a 4-3-3) we conceded 40 league goals to which Wenger said " We have to improve defensively 40 is too many to win the league".

In the Summer Gallas leaves the Club and Koscielney / Squillaci come in.

In 2010-2011 we changed to a MORE DEFENSIVE (4-2-3-1) formation yet concede even more goals.

<ok> can't argue with the facts!!! We have been poor defensively for a couple of years now and I think bringing in someone like Cahill or even Samba would allow us to take a big step forward - it would take the pressure off TV and hopefully with injuries going our way mean we have a more consistent back 4 next season instead of having to swap and change all the time
