Well this clearly hasn't gone off topic, not606 has really started to seem like BBC606 lately. Its sad that some members are claiming everyone is cheating all the time and and everyone knows it, and its ok and that we even tune in to watch it. I certainly don't enjoy watching cheating and I don't think its acceptable and neither do I think the inconsistent stewarding is accepable. I like to watch a clean race.
I bloody well hope so, otherwise we may even have some people claiming Schumacher is better than Rosberg. !!!!!!
None of the last three championship winning cars have been illegal. If the technical regulations don't state you can't do something, you can do it. You can't break a rule that isn't there, and the whole point of a loophole is that it's something that doesn't exist. So how the hell can you break it and therefore be cheating? Going to the list of drivers, Vettel and Button haven't cheated, as far as I'm aware Mansell didn't either and other champions since such as Raikkonen, Hakkinen, Hill and Villeneuve weren't cheats. As to Manny's comment about cheating being entertaining; it isn't. It's a scourge on all sport and should be stamped out wherever possible.
spoilsport. I love it when drivers get driven off the road, when footballers dive and clutch parts as if macheted, and rugby players eye-gouge opponents, boxers whacking their opponent when the ref is talking to them, even when cricketers barge batsmen out of the way. Its much more fun discovering your hero athlete only won his medal via guzzling banned substances, after years of denial. I suppose one day politicians will shock me by admitting they have been corrupt all the time! Still bring it on - its terrific watching.
Bergy: why limit cheating to sport, what about lying in court on oath, or stealing, shoplifting, fraud, Christ, there are no limits, what fun !!!!!! what entertainment eh.
are you including Christ as entertainment? - or as an expletive? I've always enjoyed the happy-clappers, myself.
Well, actually as an expletive, but come to think of it, maybe !!!!!! On a serious note for a mo, this attitude of accepting cheating, lying, dishonesty and underhand tactics is exactly why the western world of our's is in the ****, anything goes as long as it makes money. As for cheating being accepted because it enhances entertainment, how ****ing stupid is that.
Agreed - not something I would watch for 5 minutes. Oh. maybe I'm mistaken 'cos I've watched Question-time sometimes for the whole program. It usually includes people who cheat, lie, are dishonest, and employ underhand tactics. Otherwise known as politicians. But then I'm rarely entertained by it - more often merely angered.
Very good point Ernie. And yes; apparently some find it entertaining! Life is cheap, what?! Bergy, it is still said that sport and politics should never mix⦠Oh well; perhaps some of us should go back and live in the dark ages when knights were bold and men were men, and cheats were never accepted anywhere. Is there such a thing as 'honour' these days? - or has such an ideal vanished in the wind, along with the concept of respect, as promoted and popularised by an occasional dishonourable (non-)sportsman? Or should we 'blame' a similarly disrespectful press and media, who exploit the weak minded by managing to get them to idolise and applaud such behaviour!? (and perhaps even succeed in making them pay for such distorted propaganda!) For a moment, let's forget the odd F1 driver who will never grasp what I'm talking about: Murdoch: you have a lot to answer for! Now, what was this thread about? Oh yes, a comparison of Mercedes' F1 drivers⦠Well, I reckon Rosberg will score more points than a (non-)Knight in not-so-shiny armour - even if he's scraped off some of the rust⦠Ni !
