I know United gave Fergie time, but that was a different Age,can they afford to now with C/L an important comp for their income
Basically by bribing and manipulating an old drunk by the name of Yeltsin into selling off state assets at a fraction of their true worth. He was far from he only one, but Berezovsky and others got politically ambitious and paid the price for that. Abramovich was smart enough not to cross swords with Putin.
The story of Russia / Soviet Union / Russia in the past 100+ years is one of *the* great tragedies. The idea that after everything the Russian people have had to deal with (Tsar > WW1 > Revolution > Stalin > WW2 > Cold War etc), that the riches of that country have been divided up among a few oligarchs and criminals, is quite horrendous. Sorry to go off topic a bit, but the suffering that has gone on in that country is almost without parallel anywhere else in the world.
I'd go with Holloway. Although it's true that clubs don't usually sack their managers just after being promoted he is making more of a fool of himself than usual with his inane ramblings and is probably embarrassing the owners in the process. I can definitely see him getting punted
You have to say most United fans under say 35yrs of age have only ever known one manager. Prior to SAF you were no different and went through 3 managers, Docherty, Sexton and Atkinson in about 8 seasons I think.
Before them you had Wilf McGuiness & Frank O'Farrell but i'm far too young to remember them Also Matt Busby had to come out of retirement to steady the sinking ship
I think the Munich plane crash put United in the spotlight with sympathy coming from all corners, which was only right. The result is...everyone has to put up with Man U this and Man U that, even in America. Frankly I am a Spurs fan and always will be and damned proud of it!....and I do not watch Man U games...or Arsenal come to that.
I think the risks are far too high for utd to continue down a path of Moyes underachieving. He has already shown that he is not a draw for top players, and if the team continues to fall behind City, Chelski (and possibly Arsenal and Spurs) then they will panick. Look at Liverpool, once you fall behind it is a long road back (unless you get a gazzilionaire to buy you out, which the Yanks won't allow). This season outside the top 4, or continued humiliation like th city and liverpool results and he is gone. My tips for first sacking though... Jol or Houghton
This has backfired....HIAG really wanted everyone to say Jose or Moyes!! Nothing would suprise me at our club but 2 points off the top having gone to Everton and United in our 2 away games so far is not the end of the world. Let's see where everyone is in a month's time.
It's a bit early to start pointing the finger at Moyes. Utd were made to look very ordinary by City, how much of that is down to Moye's tactics and how much to the comparative quality of the players, I'm not sure.
He has had the whole summer to address that. You can blame him for going after targets that he couldn't attract (Fabregas etc) and to then leave himself with just a last minute dash for Fellaini. Not playing Kagawa is another one to blame him for and picking Young and Valencia (who were shockingly bad in defence and attack against City) is down to him too. Surely?
