He was a better player for Liverpool because he was more reliable injury wise, he wasn't petulant and he would always give 100% for the team. I hope that isn't too hard for you to comprehend.
Like I said absolutely ridiculous! If you genuinely think that Steve Finnan was a better for Liverpool than Torres you must have no knowledge about football. You are just WRONG
You are digging a hole mate. Face that you honestly don't believe it. Are you really that bitter to admit, although he didn't win you anything Torres was on course to be your most prolific striker. Shows he does his job better than anyone else. He scored 50 goals quicker than Fowler, Rush, Owen, Dalglish whoever. Now admit would you have said this, this time last year?
Nobody is saying Torres isn't an excellent striker on his day. We're debating who did the most for Liverpool; Torres had 2 good seasons with us, the rest were pretty average - If he could have repeated those first 2 seasons, then we'd be whistling a different tune right now, but he didn't.
Man City fans used to be pretty humble, with a good sense of humour, but since they became football's equivalent of lotto-lout Michael Carroll they have become much more irritating.
If you think he had an average two seasons why was it unthinkable that he would leave let alone go to Chelsea? You all still loved him and you all realised he was invaluable to Liverpool. Nothing changed until he handed in a transfer request. Look at how bad Rooney was for the same period but in the second half of the season he was United's best player and maybe helped us over the line in the league. Torres isn't finished and Liverpool fans know it. It's just wishful thinking from people too bitter to realise he chose Chelsea, a club you all hate for buying success, over staying with the team you all thought he loved.
My word you Liverpool fans are just sounding so bitter. Looking forward to Torres scoring a hatrick against you next season and then Suarez going to Chelsea. At which point you'll change your tune from him being the best player in the premiership to being a useless no hoper who didnt try when he played for you.
But this time last year we hadn't seen a full year of petulance and him strolling around the pitch putting no effort in.
I don't know which Liverpool fans you've been speaking too, but the ones I've been speaking too were commenting on his form and whether we should cash in on him last Summer. Carroll + Suarez > Torres, in my opinion, and Carroll hasn't even done anything to justify his price yet so I think we did a good bit of business and If I were in charge I wouldn't have changed anything.
