{shudder} add Fat Sam to that list and you have my personal nightmare! The difference is, we know Kenny can do it, he has proven it, and don't give me that bollox of being out of the game for too long, that is rubbish. Woy shows that we won't suffer poor quality journeyman managers who don't know what they are doing. However Neither Rafa or Kenny should have to endure losing their job because of mouthy plastic glory hunters.
His team lost 6 matches that season. They may feel its fine to pick and choose what you go unbeaten in but if you were to say to them you are unbeaten in the FA Cup they will tell you so what. Its still unbeaten isnt it. I dont think you would call it an unbeaten season though would you.
A bit of luck in one game and you are content? I thought you were a Liverpool FC fan but seems I was mistaken.
Nobleox I understand your rant but we are on some really bad form since xmas and it's only natural to have reactions like this. No mater what club you will have fans who will want their manager out, even Spurs fans are asking for Harry to leave ffs. To be honest I don't know what the big deal about last night's result is to be honest, Kenny didn't set out to win it imo. He was giving some players the chance to prove themselves before the weekend and their future after this summer. It was a nothing game win, lose or draw. Big deal, it didn't make me feel angry or upset. Those sort of emotions are saved for Saturday.
UIR on a serious wind up spree today haha. This season we have been a cup team from the start from the first game against exeter when Suarez, meireles, et all played and not the youngsters and that theme continued. I would have thought that getting 4th when we had no Euro distraction would have been a bit more prevelant but we went for the cups. At least that monkey is off the back and hopefully we can focus on the league as that is where we want to be the best at.
Nah not on wind up. Think its a fair point to compare you with Arsenal a few years back, good football but little in the way of end product. You do have the cup though, something the goons couldnt get.
See all arguments from multiple threads on this subject oh, 2 months ago, back forth back forth; nobody's changed their anti or pro stance. Everyone that isn't brain dead knows that whatever problems we had with this squad in February were not going to change 2 months later. I'm actually glad of Tuesdays performance. Kenny stated it was an opportunity for players to put forward their CV for the cup final. Instead, a lot of players that are either too old or too poor submitted their CV for transfer out of the club. Should make it easier for KD to make decisions in the summer. If he doesn't and the same players turn up with Tuesday's attitude next season THEN I might change my current stance of wait & see.
Problem with Rafa was that he made ****e signings. Oh he had a few gems but most were utter crap. For every Torres there were 3 Gomez's. Back then we had no DoF so Rafa did the scouting, price setting and buying all by himself. And he was mostly **** at it. He might do slightly better than before now but slightly better than 8th is not enough to get in the hunt for a title. Kenny has one role when it comes to transfers. He identifies who he would like at the squad, and leaves it at that. The DoF takes over and sets prices and looks at medicals and signs the cheques. He can't be at fault for the Torres+15 million deal for Andy, because he didn't call up Ashley and give an offer. He just said "I'd like Andy Carroll please" to Comolli. And Comolli was then allowed to negotiate what he thought was fair. Clearly these roles are reinforced by what happened, FSG realized who ****ed up and fired them. Kenny was told to buy British by Comolli. He identified those he wanted- Adam, Henderson, Carroll and Downing. Not a bad list, but terrible at the price paid for them. I don't blame him for signings, I only blame him for tactical mistakes. For example playing long ball when losing or not passing forward enough. Those mistakes happen >100 times less often than they did under Hodgson or Rafa's last season. He's a bit stubborn but he has added attacking flair to the team (now just finishing needed), added youth to the side, and for me, with time, he's the right man for the job.
Rafa did make some poor signings but they were mostly his 3rd or 4th targets. Plus, his poor signings likes Josemi, Kromkamp etc were cheap and most were sold on for a profit. When Rafa got his first targets i.e. Alonso, Mascherano, Torres etc - they were genuinely world class players. Our spine (Rafa signings only):- Reina Agger Skrtel Alonso Mascherano Torres Not to mention important players such as Auerelio, Arbeloa, Riera, Kuyt and Lucas.
