Holidays are so subjective. If you fancy a pint with fish and chips on the Costa Wherever, go for it. Many of my friends and aquaintances do package deals to Mexico, Cuba or the Dominican but I've never much fancied it. I prefer exploring Canada and I am fortunate to have been in Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island to Cape Spear in Newfoundland which is the most easterly point in North Ameica and I have visited every province in between. They all have something to offer regardless of personal preference. I also love returning to the UK. On my last visit we completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, walking part of the way with a young couple from Hull. We spent time on the Northumberland coast and visited places of interest, to us, in North Yorkshire and County Durham. Our next visit will include Hull - it'll be the first time since 1979, the Humber Bridge which I've never seen, hiking the Wolds Way, perhaps a City game, if the timing is right, and High Force in Teesdale which is a must for every trip to the UK. Regardless of your preferred destination, have a wonderful time. Then there was the Geordie who said he was going to Worgate for his holiday and when asked where that was he replied, "At the bottom of wor yard!"
We're doing LA/SF, LAs Vegas and Yosemite next year. I think I'm going to plan a surprise birthday cruise in November this year to New York fog my better half. I only got home at 2.30 this afternoon and I want to go away again.
Greece after the Manchester United home game and back just before Burnley away. Will have to watch Jim White and deadline day from a bar somewhere.
Laguna Beach is really nice still part of LA but little bit outside. Huntington Beach/Newport beach area all nice. John Wayne lived in Newport Beach I absolutely loved it in LA. So much to see and do. Spent a full month there once over Xmas. Best time of my life.
Is Castro calling us a bunch of paupers because of where we've said we're going on holiday? I don't think he is but then again it looks as though he might be? I'm confused.
Just so you all know, you've told Chazz when you're gonna be away. Pretend to be surprised when you get back and find yer houses empty. Having lived and worked all over the world, I prefer to holiday now in England. Although a trip to Germany (love the country) at some point is on the cards. And Italy (friends live there). I aint saying when mind.
Nah he's just confused that people prioritise their own money, and for some, a holiday is more important than a season ticket, I think. My mam and dad have barely a penny to rub together. Go away twice a year normally. Keeps them happy.
I like Germany. Like England would be if things worked. A Rhineland-Palatinate cruise was one of my favourite holidays. I have to holiday in England nowadays. Enjoying discovering places I hadn't been to. Any recommendations?
We obviously have similar tastes. Frau Alte and I love walking in the Wolds (also North Yorkshire - moors and coast). We spend a fair amount of time in Canada and love BC and Alberta - we've walked the "Wild Pacific Trail" and spent weeks in Ucluelet. In recent years we've particularly enjoyed time in the Southern Gulf Islands with stays on Pender and Saltspring Islands. This year we'll be heading back to Saltspring just in time to wave Canada Tiger (and his lovely wife) off as they move from Saltspring to Palm Springs - really looking forwards to it!
Just got back from a fortnight in Side, Turkey where the temps hit the mid forties at times, glad to feel a bit cooler in good old Blighty, lovely place if anyone is considering it, numerous ruins for sight seeing and fantastic array of eateries and watering holes
Been to America many times in the past, we loved the Varity of different landscapes, Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Lakes, Vegas, Palm Springs, Grand Canyon, Red Rock canyon, SF, LA, if you do a road trip you can be in a big city then fantastic countryside, desert and theme parks. We loved it in fact got married in 96 after winning a football competition which the hull daily mail run, I won two manager of the months at £500 a time plus the overall prize of £3000 which was a lot of money then, I paid for eight of us for 18 nights touring Nevada and Calafonia and then had a party in Darleys when we got home. Now we normally only travel has far has Spain because of the wifes illness although in August we are going a bit further to Tenerife, I miss the Manchester utd game.
very true took us around an hour and ten minutes to get from airport to hotel, but having said that i`ve had far worse.
Im not sure i would get too excited if i was going on holiday to Brisbane In respect, most people go to the Barrier Reef from north Queensland as thats the better part of it. I am sure it starts not too far north of here but the best parts are definitely further north. But if you did go there is so much more to see than the Barrier Reef.
Im jealous... I love to go to New Zealand, especially the south island, fantastic scenery. Comes close to the Lake District for its natural beauty. Food is great also.
Did the 3 peaks with my brother back end of 2014 (I think). Conditions were 10% ok, 50% gentle rain, 40% torrential rain/lightning. Got a bit hairy at times. I think about 20% of the group dropped out. One bloke got a prize for being the most inappropriately dressed, trainers, chinos, windcheater. He finished but looked like a drowned rat!
