Because London is a festering, sweaty, French filled, overpopulated, polluted cesspit full of arsecunts. And Brighton ain't.
People don't tend to go on holiday to the Grand Canyon in the numbers tthat go to Las Vegas. It is for rafting and a few days stop over. People tend to go there as part of a tour or on a day trip from elsewhere.
Does this thread put to bed all complaints about the price of season tickets, match day tickets, replica shirts, pie's and beer? Apart from Filey who is entitled to moan about all of the above and more.
Well, people on here may not be representative of City fans in general, but reading of the holiday plans it does undermine the Hull is a poor city where people can't afford to go to football as an excuse for us selling less season tickets than similarly sized clubs as far as some are concerned.
How many who have posted live in Hull? That's not a leading question - I dont know the answer. It might be everyone but me and Lambo.
Although the Grand Canyon has been mentioned, I have yet to hear anyone say about the sheer magnificence of the majority of the hotels on the Strip. Bellagio, if you are into model railways, I'm not particularly, but still the one that spans a whole part of the hotel foyer is amazing. Or lions, both the MGM and Mirage had lions (sorry no Tigers as I remember) but I think both hotels have had them taken out now, not sure why. Then Gondoliers in the Venitian on a small river running through the hotel, or the aquarium in Caesars Palace, maybe not of The Deep level but still pretty spectacular and if you are a betting man then most hotels have betting set ups William Hill could only drool at. Then there is the artefacts from The Titanic in one hotel or a boxing exhibition with gloves from the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Jersey Joe Walcott and others on display, the light show in Wynn, or outdoors the dancing fountains at the Bellagio or the mock battle on and old fashioned sailing ship at Treasure Island. Many are free to see although going to the top of the Stratoshere and the Eiffle Tower does cost although if you are 55 you are classed as a senior at the Stratosphere and get reduced prices. (Jimmy Buffet's) Margaritaville sometimes has street parties with live music and give aways, which my wife and I have attended, and is without doubt on of our favourite memories of visits to Las Vegas. And not forgetting the hotel we stayed at The Imperial Palace, now re-named The Quad after a half a billion dollar refurbishent which includes a giant big wheel at the back of the hotel now but still retains its car musem on the 5th floor. If you are a petrol head then this is worth a day of your time to see, and buy if you have the money, cars once belonging to film stars, pop stars, politicians, gangsters and they did have the original mini from the Michael Cain film The Italian Job. Some of these cars, Rolls, Bugatti's and the like had asking prices of around $2,000,000, as I said you don't have to be a gambler to enjoy Las Vegas, but after one guy told us he had lost $10,000 in an afternoon and his wife wouldn't speak to him I'm glad that I don't gamble. There are some tacky exhibits, we were not keen on Excalibur's Knights of Olde stuff on show but Fremont Street's roof video show was worth the bus trip down the strip, I have hardly scratched the surface of what there was to see and as its a couple of years since we have been now I dare say there is even more stuff to see.
Because it's unspeakably cruel? Because it's the most turgid, stultifying dull and obscene creation in the known universe? I honestly - honestly - heard a fat ****ing family of Yanks say when walking through The Venetian: "Geee, we dont need to go to Venice now"
You said 'it does undermine the Hull is a poor city where people can't afford to go to football as an excuse for us selling less season tickets than similarly sized clubs as far as some are concerned.'
Not like our sophisticated tourists, singing one Cornetto in Venice, eh? Or those who go to places with great cafes and restaurants selling wonderful food but want a full English, fish and chips with a mug of tea and the same crap beers they drink back home.
It wasn't actually all that cruel, the lions didn't live there, forty of them lived on a massive ranch outside Vegas and they just brought them in to appear for short stints in the hotel, they were far better treated than your average zoo. Vegas is a massive theme park, what did you expect to find there?
Wonder if it's the same ones who said Edinburgh Castle was real pretty but why build it so close to the damn railroad?
I said that fans on here might not be representative of City fans in general... Surely not everyone who is a City fan and goes on holiday is from outside of Hull. Are there no travel agents in Hull due to lack of demand?
