Just got to aim to win the next game….and then the next one ….and etc. That’s all we can ask. For our Club to play to win and to try its best.
Starting to look like other teams faltering will leave us 7th at a minimum bar a catastrophic collapse of epic proportions now, so another European adventure is on the cards. As Tash says - crunch game is Man U in the penultimate game of the season and they have a days less rest facing Arsenal the day after we play Brighton! Add to this that Spurs could be in touching distance by then it's going to be a hell of a run in to the season. Up The Euro Mags!
Kinda is, especially as the season is so erratic and hard to call. I remember someone saying on here we'd win all our remaining games and had a chance of getting 4th after the Spurs game. No doubt that opinion has now changed to be lucky to scrape 10th.
Season is not done and we have a very good chance of finishing 7th and qualifying for Europe, maybe even 6th if Man U continue to be rubbish.
We were always going to find last night difficult.. the home game on Saturday should be a win though and then if they can beat Burnley we'll be in a game position.
Last nights performance has been too often this season away from home. He can blame injuries all he wants but that 11 should be giving Palace a game. We were never in it. That’s a motivation issue. We had 11 days rest and they had much less and they rested their best player. I can’t stand watching Longstaff and Burn on the pitch now.
EH “We have been training with twelve or thirteen players these last ten days.” He’s just not a great manager.
The injuries have killed the season, but the question is why ? There's some of us that sighted our style of play, Howes lack of rotation and the luck all clubs get, but there's others that have been peddling the bad luck theory only.... there's a history with Howe and this problem... bemoaning luck alone and just shrugging shoulders saying we've got injuries isn't what needs to be heard... what we want to know is what are you going to do about it ... the journalist questions are dreadful.
How many gone for the season so far? Botman, Joelinton, Miley, Targett, Pope, Lascelles and Willock. With Wilson, Barnes, Isak, Trippier, Livramento, Anderson, Burn and more having extended periods out. Something is fundamentally broken. I can’t fathom how he’s the man to fix this in a six week summer, with friendlies and Australia trips.
Even early on this season the rotation was poor... it was basically the same changes and seldom were our best players taken out. The game last night their manager rested their best player after 2 wins ! There is no chance of Howe having that nouse or bravery. The guy talks very well, he's a good coach doing a decent job, but there are definitely areas of concern. I would like the club to see if they can get an elite manager with a history of success and if they can get them move Howe on. If not Howe should be allowed to continue and he's got enough credit I suppose. The problem is we now know that Howe has some very Southgate like tendencies and I'm not sure there's a worse manager in the league when it comes to in game interventions.... knowing this fact means that somewhere down the line it'll cost the club in big games... maybe another cup final.
The problem with us is consistency. 4-0 against spurs, credit where it’s due we were class. How can you go from that to so poor in one game? I get Football is up and down but to go from such an extreme to the opposite so quick is baffling. Newcastle United suffers from bipolar.
The thing is Tottenham were dreadful....they rolled over. The toon fans didn't like the pundits pointing it out, but it was true. Crystal Palace away was always going to be difficult and because our fans thought it was a games we should win they are taking it badly.
