If things work out for them that way fair play to them,i think you'll find most reds from this neck of the woods dont want the ****ers relegated apart from billy.

As for them being top 8 or so i think your predicting a downward spiral for them.

They've finished 7th,8th,5th,5th,6th in the last 5 years.

Everton always seem to me to start the season really slowly (at least since Moyes has been there ) and build up steam over the winter and finish strongly. Can't see them going down, but the chairman needs to put his hand in his pocket.

The big question is, Why do you have the budget you have? Who is on the take, or are your tickets only 50p, so the place isn't empty on a Saturday afternoon?

Everton are looking for a buyer/ investors at the moment.

How would every one feel if they became as rich or richer than us?

The north west of England is the place for rich football teams right now (along with London of course).

They used to be richer than us once upon a time.

They have different problems going on.

It got them a good few years of instant success.

In light of the forthcoming Uefa fair play rules it would be difficult for any new owner no matter how rich he/they are to do a Chelsea/City.

They have been looking for the last two year (allegedly) and can't seem to find a single billionaire who is interested. Something is so very wrong over there, very wrong.

I dont think it would be that much harder, just maybe a bit slower. Owners will find ways around it.

Slower being the key word jk.

They would have to get 'outsiders' to invest in the club through advertising/sponsorship etc before they splash the cash on players to stay within the rules.

kind of the opposite of what City did.

They could of course make 'Arry the manager.

Never want my rivals to go down: the momentary satisfaction goes quickly: repeatedly being better than a rival while in same league year after year; that's fun!

Of course it can always go against you for a while...:(

  17. That is certainly not the case for me. I would say the same if it was Man Utd too. These are the games I look forward to and, although it would be funny to see them relegated, football wouldn't be the same if we weren't to play them each season.

    To the article question...

Everton won't break the top seven of Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool. They won't be sucked into the relegation battle which is usual about six or seven teams. That roughly leaves eighth through to thirteenth, otherwise known as mid-table. I'll plump for Sunderland in Eighth with Everton in ninth.

  18. Unless a club forgoes European competition? They can spend as much as they like to compete domestically. Once they win a league title or two, they will get more fans following them and buying merchandise etc. Throw in a big stadium and it could still work out in a similar way. It is a slow process but it could still happen.

Of course, that is assuming Uefa have the gahooners to actually implement the FFP rule and is ignoring the fact that these clubs have the best lawyers around and will no doubt find every loop hole going!

But if a club qualifies for Europe they cant not enter the competition, and the more they spend domestically increases their chances of qualifying.

  20. I know, hence me saying 'unless a club forgoes European competition'. In other words, it doesn't stop a owner splashing lots of cash on a club if they don't care about qualifying for Europe straight away.
