Yes it's all speculation I agree, carzorla is slightly different because he is older and all does not have clubs like real eyeing him up, if clubs like that wanted him, they would have tried to get him when he was going relatively cheap. I think we could have gotten at least 10 million more for RVP if he had a few years left on his contract. The point I'm trying to make is that you would be a lot less likely to get the 60 - 70 million that has been talked about if he only had 2 years left on his contract, and while he might not want to leave and has a good track record, you never know with agents ect, I'm sure his agent has already started to think of what he is going to spend his agents fee on if bale does move.
Comparing Bale's reaction to not getting CL next season to Cazorla not getting it is 'chalk & cheese' simply because THFC getting to the CL is an anomaly, whereas AFC not getting would be an anomaly. Any right minded person would bet on AFC being back in the CL the following year, but would want very long odds if they were to bet on THFC doing the same.
There's no way Bale is worth 70m, that's just a figure Spurs fans have plucked out of the air, because to them he is pretty much priceless, but he has his price. Real are saying this morning that Ronaldo may not sign a new contract, if he doesn't you can pretty much guarantee that Bale will be their number one target.
"We just want to take all three points in this one, especially being at home. It's a massive game and Arsenal are probably the one team we want to beat more than anything." Sounds like a Gooner through and through.
So why have Real said they are willing to bid 70 million for him,i suppose, they read the Spurs forums
Come on spours fans - he isn't worth £70million, just like Modric wasn't worth the £45-50mil price tag spurs gave him. Clubs do this for the sake of putting up a strong front, to hold otu for as much as they can. If Bale wants to go and you don't get CL football and Madrid made him there top target, he would be sold. And not for £70mill either. I'm sure you can get £30 odd million for him, maybe even £40mill at a push. But anything over that is just unrealistic. There are very few transfers that reach silly heights. Ronaldo (at the time quite possibly the best player in the world) and Torres (total flop, but seen as one of the best strikers in the world and part of the super spain international team) spring to mind. I can't see Bale getting a similar fee to either transaction. Tottenham might get a clause that they get a % of the sell on fee, or first refusal to buy him back or both (like we did with Fabregas - 50% of future fee plus buy-back). But i'd bet my life savings on spurs NEVER getting £70mill for him... or any other player for that matter.
@Yid vicious - RVP with a few years on his contract would have been worth far more than Bale. RVP was THE BEST player in the league last season hands down. And the best out and out striker in the world (counting Messi as a midfield/wide player more than a striker despite his regular appearances down the middle). £25million was peanuts. He is one of the few players in the world who could have fetched £40mill+ if he was tied to a long contract.
To be fair Bale is a match winner. No one else at the spuds is so credit has to be given to Bale and once he goes in the summer they wont have any unless they buy another one.
Levy doesn't work that way, don't know why we are even talking about it,as Ledley King said,Gareth is in no hurry to leave Spurs ,and will be here next season
He didn't say he will be there next season, he speculated that he would be in no hurry to leave. But basically, his view will count for **** all if Real DO come in with a crazy £5O - £6Om offer
Has everyone forgotten about Keane and Berbatov? Neither should have been sold for anymore than £15M, and both went for circa £30M. If Levy sells, Levy sells at his own price. Not what Gooners on here decide he's worth, nor for that matter, anybody does.
You're right in that nobody knows how much Bale could be sold for, but have you forgotten that Spurs bought Keane back for 12m ?
After how many successful years at Spurs? Only Rafa's inability to mould him into his Liverpool system made his time there so torrid. I would have put his actual value at the time of sale to Pool at around the £12/5M mark, so it wasn't actually a bad price. Combined with how poor we were in the league at that point, and the Strikers we actually had, Liverpool could have rinsed us for him. Saying that, this was the same club who paid £34M more for Carroll than anyone should have...
There's a very real argument to be put forward that Bale is just behind Messi and Ronaldo as the world's third best player. Messi - £100m Ronaldo - £80m Bale - £60m - £70m No pressure to sell, no worries about contract length like the RvP situation. If Real want him, that's how much it is going to cost them.
delusion at its purest form . 5 good games and hes the ****in messiah . What a joke . if he manages another season on form he might catch up with Van Persie , and even HE aint the worlds 3rd best player you ****in dimwit.
