And then told you to play at a wee ground next door? Yeah I'm guessing a lot of people wouldn't be happy.
the Scottish government should have told them to gtf? And neither they should. They wouldn't have done it to other teams either.
They initially set up a subsidiary company The National Stadium PLC, which soon raised £10m towards the cost of redevelopment from stadium debenture sales. The initial estimate of the cost was £60m, although the project cost was finally around £70m, prompting severe criticism from some Scottish politicians, both at Holyrood and Westminster, criticism which seems ludicrous to some with hindsight, given the eventual costs of the Holyrood Parliament building. Support did eventually come from other agencies, receiving £30m from lottery grants, £18m of grant aid from a range of exchequer funded agencies, led by Sportscotland and £12m from private sponsors, primarily from BT Scotland, which together with the initial £10m from debentures meant that the money was eventually raised. Bottom line is they got the vast bulk of the cash from other people so the point remains, imagine if Celtic or Rangers had been given £48m to do up their stadia? It should never have been allowed.
If the national team used Ibrox or the piggery as their national stadium then they probably would have got money to do it up, but the fact is they don't they use Queen's Park's ground. I really can't see the big deal. In other news, this seems a bit harsh...https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45347238
They own both ... SFA should have bought Hampden before it was done up . To have an amatuer team running out every second week on Hampden pith is a joke . I hope the SFA bin Hampden and taken national games on the road ...
To be honest, like most people I think Hampden is a ****hole. If the money was available they should build a new national stadium but it isn't so renting Queen's Park's house(without chucking them out) is the most sensible way of doing it I would say. Or buy it off them, but you certainly couldn't have said, you are going to get your house done up and you don't need to pay for it but the bad news is you won't be able to live in it anymore. Makes no sense.
