Where is.....

He left us playing **** boring football as we'd had to watch the whole time under him. Same as every other club. He can talk all he wants, Mourinho does exactly the same. They claim they recognise football has moved on from them and they will adapt. Then they concentrate on stopping the opposition. We played defensive counter his whole time here. Same as he has everywhere else, boring the **** out of fans and sometimes players. I don't think anyone would argue the fact he is a fantastic defensive coach. He ain't gonna change now and we need to look at something more modern, something which brings excitement. He's not the man for the new regime. He'd last two years maximum and would leave us with a hell of a challenge to unpick his work. We need to think more like Man City did, with clear lines of transition between the coaches you appoint.

I don't think you can ever say he is out of touch or a dinosaur. He has never followed trends etc. He has a very unique style and his own way of doing things (which has served him well). Its why he is notoriously difficult to follow. He hasn't changed much at all since Valencia.
I agree with everything you say here.

The concern is it “appears” PIF or more to the point AS wanted him to take on the project. He keeps talking about a project and he has not took any jobs on since leaving China.

So reading between the lines it looks like he’s the man they want.

Rafa makes sense for their 1st appointment.

He's a reliable set of hands, a big name in the sport in alot of countries and the majority of the fans would be happy with it.

Newcastle post takeover are still along way down the pecking order and to get to the next level rafa would be a wise choice.

I agree with you guys. Rafa is the guy you want to oversee the new generation in the academy and build solid foundations of which to build for the future. Which in a way you could say that he already achieved that here. He did the same at Liverpool and Napoli too. He has spoken about this a lot recently, his desire to manage a more youthful side.

He has stated that he doesn't want to take over a team in the middle of a season again and wants a pre season and transfer window in order to get a team up to speed, rather than playing catch up with minimal time to go in a season.

He has also been earmarked for both Napoli and Valencia, but has made it clear that he wants a Premier League job. He has said there's very limited options this season. If the rumours are true, Spurs are only just starting to interview candidates.

Also rafa has spoken about the requirements of ye modern game.. Give rfa this sqaud and 100 million and we'll be top 10 then go from there.

It's all hypothetical until a takeover happens, but there's going to be seasons where we go fwds and then back.. The top half is full of rich clubs.

He did manage to get top 10, with a negative net spend, you would think with 100 million, he would expect a Europa League spot.

What's sickening is the fact, that Rafa told Ashley the club was plagued with injuries due to the substandard equipment in training, Ashley then spent money upgrading training facilities to be fair to him. Rafa told him the academy was severely behind the leagues needs, Ashley ignored him. Rafa drew up a shortlist, and Ashley wouldn't sanction just about all of the players and then they went elsewhere and have done well such as Abraham, Praet, etc

Rumour that Nuno could be taking over at Villa at the end of the summer, with Rafa taking over at Wolves.
