As far as I can tell, they are in a minority of two. Pundits rave about Taarabt, everyone else on here at least rates him quite highly and the crowd at Loftus Road love him. Yet, still these two think they're right and everyone else, including people who have been in the game professionally or are coaches (Bob) are wrong. Beggars belief!! This makes me conclude that they're on the wind up. Best to ignore imo.

Taarabt is one key player in one key position, as is Remy, Samba and Cesar. Injury/suspension to any of them leaves us threadbare and that is more likely to send us down than anything else. Our hopes seem to rest on those four more than the rest...

Nope. There was a thread done recently in which there were at least five who openly agreed with us. Aussie was one of them and there were a few others.

Which pundits? Most pundits I've heard have said he's overrated. Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier are just two who spring to mind.

Honestly, that statement is very untrue.

    .
Who are you talking about here? Silent Bob? For all we know Silent Bob could be an 18 year old amature drag queen that's got a fetish for men in shorts. <doh>

    Pull yourself together man.

Staines, you must have missed the game yesterday but we didn't lose. We got a draw and played quite well as it happens. <ok>

OK, my final attempt (gambit) at a conciliatory post.

If you compare him to the Taarabt of a year ago, the critics were slating his workrate, consistency and contribution if a man was put on him (lots of reminders of Savage having him in his pocket etc).

Well his workrate has improved and he consistently covers more ground than most.

He regularly emerges with the ball despite 3-4 opposition being around him. How many players in this league are capable of that?

Adel has been our most potent attacking force.

The crowds "ooh" when he picks up the ball on the halfway line because something COULD happen. Doubt anyone would think it's a possibility if Mbia did the same.

The fact is, he has made a couple of steps up and is a key player in holding up the ball, relieving pressure and trying to make something happen.

Even the doubters are criticising based on sterner criteria.

I'd suggest that a thread on the psychology of hero worship in isolation rather than digging at a much improved player would be less emotive and fairer on him TBH.

    That's all.

Another quality post. The only part I'd disagree with is this
. I've been consistent in my praise of his improvements but also that he has a long way to go.

You make some very fair points Matt and I do concede that I go OTT. In my defence though, I find others go OTT in their praise of the lad too.

    I'll leave it there.

I know you're on the wind up Swords, no worries. It's getting harder and harder each week to stay positive and when I heard about Remys injury before the game yesterday my heart sank (especially as i had staked £150 of my hard earned on us at evens money).
Personally I think the key on our survival is Remys injury....He comes back soon and we might have a chance....If he is out for more than a month then we are as good as doomed.
But as I said before.......I'll still be there week in, week out as I was when we were playing in League 1.

i don't know what it is with you but when this subject comes up, all reason seems to go out of the window. Let's dissect what you've said.

"Top top players will deliver when it needs to be done...ala giggs, scholes, gerrard, Beckham etc" is this supposed to be taken seriously? Giggs and Scholes have only ever played for United. Beckham for both United and some poxy little team in Spain called Real Madrid (you may have heard of them as you are such an avid follower of La Liga) and Gerrard for Liverpool. Now I know that Liverpool are not quite the real deal these days but as you have said "I know for .......you it is hard to understand..so lets simplify it shall we.. " none of these guys have ever played for a team such as ours - a team of journeymen by comparison. I wonder whether they would have been half as successful if they had the the team mates AT has to play with week in week out.

"Our star player who is too good for Barca and the best player in the Prem (apparently)..could not deliver when he was 12 yards out with [o]nly the keeper to beat, under pressure...."

Well in that he is clearly in good company - Messi, Beckham, Gerrard have all missed vital penalties at different times. So by your logic AT must be as good as them or they must be as ****e as him.

More importantly, you keep raising this image of 95% of this forum hero worshipping Adel Taarabt and elevating him to a divine status that frankly only you in your misguided attempt at sarcasm have put him at. I've asked you before to tell us who these arselickers are because, frankly I don't know who you are referring to.

"One for you to ponder..why hasnt Tarbs been bought yet...mmmmm....???...by anyone at all ???...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..?" Now now calm down dear. Let's make our points in a civilised way and not like a sulky brat answering back. The answer is so simple that you must have forgotten it in your urge to condemn us all as naive morons who live in the past elevating the team that won the Chamionship as a team of untouchables. Again, a statement without any foundation of fact behind it. Every one of the players who played for that team has been criticised at various times as not good enough to make it in the PL.

It is interesting that both Mark Hughes and Harry Redknapp have both recognised that there is talent there which is worthy of starting games. In the latter's case even at the expense of that reject from the poxy little Spanish team that Beckham previously played for. In fact Redknapp clearly seems to have decided that Taarabt is the entire foundation which his team will be built upon.

He was not sold last Summer to PSG because Flavio and Bernie wanted far too much money for him. Since then I am not aware of any manager actually making him available for transfer. You may have a crystal ball and can tell us whether offers would be made for him or not but the simple fact is he has not been for sale. It is speculation as to whether any offers have been made behind the scene. Cerny or another ITK may know!

It seems that every time this subject comes up for discussion, and usually raised by your good self, you descend into patronising arrogance where you feel you have to ram your views down our throats. Even Swords does not go quite that far.

We are just going to have to differ on this one and that for you means, you are going to have to accept that the majority of posters on this forum do not agree with you. They are also not stupid, naive, unfair, unwilling to accept criticisms or the value of opinions which do not coincide with their own. I think the time has come for you to apologise once again for letting your typing fingers run away with you.

Ok Yorkie..lets try this shall we...
You 5th paragraph says that most posters do not hero worship tarbs ..correct?
Your last says that most dont agree with me? so which one is it mate.

I also attempt to make a point using common sense not just facts. If you wish to use purely facts then lets say his goal scoring record for a player in his position must be one of the worst in the league..therefore he must be one of the worst players in the league? See? using facts & stats doesnt quite show the wole picture does it.
The ridiculous point you make about Gerrard & Beckham is exactly that. They are at & have been at the top clubs for a reason. You're a smart guy so you work that one out(hint-because they a that good...!)

No-one knows why he was not sold last summer, not even my & certainly not you. So that point is ridiculous

I have repeatedly said, that i dont doubt his ability. Just seems that some only hear what they want too. As for those quoting about not being at the game, I would point you in the direction of Rangercol. I'm sure he will explain.

As far as i can read, most od DT's posts on this thread have been absolute crap & that suprises me from him.

As far as pundits raving about him..do me a favour. there are as many that rate him as there are that dont. Selective hearing i would assume.

As for Matt(the voice of reason) sorry mate, but you will never get a balanced debate on Tarbs based purely on the fact that he is worshipped by so many for stuff that he did 2 years ago in a 2nd rate league. He is definately very much improved now-a-days and I'd go as far as to say that this is the best he has ever been. Unfortunately, hero worship has no bounds.
Imagine you'd never been to a game before this season & never heard of Tarbs. After watching the prem this season, what would your opinion of him be with regards to the rest of the league? Best in the league, untouchable?
for me he is in the Matt le Tissier catagory. A great big player at a small club. So , why doesnt he make the step up to a bigger club. I'm sure there a numerous reasons & perhaps we shiould ask MLT himself.

As for the other "boring" comments, Norf et al..Lets wonder why they never post on the subject? prob because they have no credible views or opinions to post..and.just cant face the facts that someone decides to go against the grain of the board.

Yorkie, I can assure you that Myself and Swords are not the only people who have doubts over Tarrabt. As Swords posted, there are more than a few who post on here & other boards with this opinion.

AGAIN, in case you missed it. I have NO DOUBT about his ability..that does not make him a good premiership player!

    PS..Morning Norf....:emoticon-0109-kiss:
