Not quite what I was thinking, but anyone that doesn't know how I think is fortunate.
Been a very pleasant couple of weeksI'll give Kojak his due, he has not popped back in for two weeks to see what low grade posts are being put up by low grade individuals.
Mr Boomerang had a nose on Friday, she'll be back![]()

You rubbed Dick up the wrong way but I know you secretly like Dick

Cuh, I don't visit here for smut like that, and if you think I'm leaving because of it you're very much mistaken. You rubbed Dick up the wrong way but I know you secretly like Dick![]()
Has it really been a roller coaster like this on and off the last several years ?
Hopefully if they come back the personal snipes at people will stop - one more guilty than the other obviouslyFor periods of a few weeks, roughly six months apart.
Usually coinciding with the visit of Royston & Dick Plumb.
The last two times (March & November this year) I gave in to Royston's pressure and Dick took over as moderator. But both times the pair of them left the forum again very soon afterwards, so I picked up the pieces.
They are both welcome back any time, but I won't be leant on by them again.
Royston has a vision of what Not606 Charlton should be - a knockabout forum of banter and lads' stuff, where differing views can be shouted down and folks he doesn't approve of can be bullied, not to put too fine a point on it.
He thinks that kind of thing will bring new members & attract some old ones, thus leading to a revival of some nostalgic 'good old days' golden age.
That view is OK. All opinions are welcome.
But not to promote the kind of palace revolutions he likes to orchestrate.
I think the way Nasty Nick hounded you out the other month was a new low even for him!Not an instant dislike between myself and Royston.
Perhaps a gradual parting of ways.
Years ago we had a lot of common ground.
Both Brexiteers, and mostly in agreement about opposing the crooks who ruined our Club over the previous decade.
He is also a dedicated Charlton fan who invests a lot of time and money travelling to away games, as well as most home ones.
And he supported the team when we were exiled from the mid 1980's to 1992.
Commonly referred to as the 'Selhurst era'.
I have huge respect for that.
Sadly though that respect seems to be a one way thing these days.
I'll never be as prominent or accomplished a supporter as Royston. Nor would I ever claim to be.
But our World Views have diverged. For instance I now regret supporting UKIP and much of what I said during the years after the Referendum.
That was quite a while before I was moderator here. My views were expressed (rather too forcefully I admit) as a regular member.
I'm seeing things differently now.
As for Dick Plumb - we are just oil and water I think.
Faults on both sides.
Low grade behaviour perhaps.I think the way Nasty Nick hounded you out the other month was a new low even for him!

Nick is nice as pie face to face. I think that having a different online persona is a slippery slope and will in time damage your mental health.I think the way Nasty Nick hounded you out the other month was a new low even for him!

Knowt wrong with a bit of sarcasm, I just wish the wife would understand thatMy internet persona is exactly the same as real life, I'm a right sarky c"@7, but never with malice.

Mrs Two is always telling me off for my sarcastic ways, and warning me in advance of family get togethers etc. She's wasting her breath!Knowt wrong with a bit of sarcasm, I just wish the wife would understand that![]()

Faults on both sides.
But he too is a dedicated and well informed supporter who spends much time following the progress of the academy squad.
I admire his knowledge in that regard.
