Good source, but surely not true. I'd harness my inner Cloughy and wallop a player who asked to dictate where he played....

It would be 3/5/2 all day long for me with the current squad, and I did not see the game but the U23's played that way last time out with Arby, Younger and Almond so maybe the wheels are just beginning to turn.

If he has a contract which states that it would be staggering. Massive naievety if anyone at the club has agreed to it. We would be a laughing stock in the football agent world woudnt we. Not shooting the messenger mate but I cant see that being true.

It is not a formation I like in principle but I think you are right it would suit us best. Give Doyle a bit more freedom to play his normal game. Cirkin and Huggins when back as wide men.. A bit of support for Stewart who needs a hand. Evans anchoring a 3 with Embleton and Neil either side. It could be just the thing and would probably make the high press Johnson wants to play easier.

I would like to see him get his shoulder fixed and get a game or two in the U23,s alongside Olly Younger , if they click we would have replicated the Sanderson / O/9 pairing of last year. Shame no one thought of it at the time, we might have avoided this season altogether imo.

not fussed really, don't get the ****athon over09, we need to play without him instead of working around him if we want to improve. wouldn't even make my bench.

So pleased someone else typed this to save me, 3-5-2 I think is what we should be going with, stops us getting over run in midfield and when under pressure you end up with 5 at the back.
The only tricky part of playing that system is to make sure you try and stick to it .
I've seen a few games when under a bit of pressure it reverts to a static 5-3-2 and you get overrun in midfield.
A prime example of that was the world cup semi against Croatia, first half they couldn't get near us, but second half the wing backs seemed to drop into permanent full backs and Modric and co tore us apart

i keep saying it but onien does a lot of the 'quiet/unseen work' on the pitch, in that i mean he rarely does the spectacular run or pass and that at times makes it look as if the game is passing him by but he does do an important job, especially in this league (why do people think he gets targetted so much?).

that said, i get the feeling lately he is not fully into games since his shoulder problems began and i do not care what anyone says, if there is a chance you might hurt yourself then you will try to protect yourself without even thinking about it...i honestly think he is one of the players that could use a break and would prefer to see him get the work done on his shoulder but he seems to be thrown in every game including cup games.

3/5/2 was put under the spotlighted by Danny Murphy on MOTD Sat Night. summarising the Manchester Derby. I know we are playing at a very different level but it was an interesting insight into the pro's and cons of the system, its not perfect, but I still think its at least worth a try as it would make team selection a lot easier with the players we have currently available.

If someone gave a utility player a clause in their contract stipulating that had to be played in a single position, that person shouldn't be negotiating contracts.

What next? A kick the ball clause? Every time you kick the ball you're legally owed a book of rare and valuable postage stamps?

we should have switched to this formation games ago, esp against wingbacks. How LJ can’t see it is beyond me. He has the players at his disposal who can switch to this formation

Verbal agreement when signing that would be honoured unless it's last resort.

Why do your think he has literally only played CM this season?

Even coming off the bench, to move a forward playing CM in Dan Neil back to full back to allow 09 to play CM?

  17. Well, for us to enter into an agreement like that, verbal or not,is ****ing crackers!
I like the lad,but he's not a world beater. It might be where he sees himself playing his best, but those of us who've watched this game for a long time can see that it isn't.

If I am not mistaken 09 is in CM again tonight with players like Gooch and such playing full back instead.
