For quite a few people, the game is the excuse, rather than the sole reason. Socialising to, from and at the game is a far bigger factor. Watching on TV or a stream misses all of that and a lot of the game.
I get this. For me and a lot of others though, the game is the reason, the socialising is just a smaller element. As much as I prefer and love being at a game, I actually think I miss more than when watching on TV. Dunno if its the replays or the optimum angle or what, but I'm sure I miss a lot actually at a game. I'm also one of those that watches the game. I chant rarely, sing even more rarely, I stand up when we score/doing something exciting. I am generally just totally zoned out from those around me and focused on the game. To me it looks like a lot of the more "sociable" types, who are jumping up and down, singing, chanting abuse at the oppo's fans etc actually miss out on the football. I aint knocking them, each to their own and they obviously enjoy it, the noise they make I like, but I do just sort of filter it out to background noise.
Really? I think you miss a lot more watching on the telly, it's always centred on the ball. I think you get a far better overall view of the game when you're the live. Any incidents that are a bit of a "hmmm" chin scratcher you see on match ut daynes in the eve anyway.
Depends on what you're watching I guess. I tend to watch the ball/player with the ball, rather than the rest of the ground. I agree with OLM though, games I've been to then watched later on TV look totally different games.
