Where do we start

To say Garry Monk has a lot of work to do is an understatement.

There are so many area's that need improvement, but where is it most important? (on the pitch)

Goalkeeper

Silvestri has done okay, but will BPF still be at the club come August? I note he wanted to wait until things unfolded a little more before putting pen to paper and signing a two year contract?

Is he strong enough competition for Silvestri?

Central Defenders

Shocking. The mistakes they make are cringe worthy. We need a new Captain...

Wing backs

Don't have a problem with Berardi or Taylor. Seems Berardi is a little injury prone, but Coyle will be more than adequate.

Midfield

We need a defensive midfielder, somebody experienced, and someone vocal who can marshall the defence, and can link the defensive to the midfield and play keep ball. Too many times the midfield do not track back or give support in advanced positions when attacking. Is this down to fitness?

There is a big hole between midfield and forwards.

Wingers

I personally feel that other positions are more important at the moment.

Forwards

I'm happy with Wood. He needs another strike partner to play with, preferably someone who can head the ball. Shame we can't recycle Lee Chapman

Free kick taker / corner taking

Perhaps when you think about it, this could have been our poorest discipline all season.

Say we had 5 corner per game, and (including our cup games) we played 50 games last season. That's 250 corners. From memory I think we only scored three times from corners

Captain

Competent, experienced, respected, can give guidance and not afraid to let you know what is on his mind. Any idea's

Hey'up Elland,

1) I don't think BPF is ready or good enough to unseat Silvestri.

2) Keep Berardi, Bellushi, Cooper and Taylor. Many supporters have said Bellushi and Cooper play better together than Bamba and Cooper. For me Bamba is the biggest mistake maker.

We may well get another CB in, but there's no guarantees, everyone wanted Bamba at beginning, and he's been more of a cockk than a rock.

3) Agree about the midfield, been saying it for 2 seasons near enough. Ship'em all out and start afresh.

Not only do they not track back, they don't know how to do defence splitting passes for our strikers to latch on too, it's not only a hole, it's a wide lane for 3 or 4 double decker buses to drive through, and the oppositions knew it.

4) If we play 4-4-2, which seems to be our best formation, then the LB and RB need to overlap our mids occasionally to get crosses in, doing this too many times during a match can sap their energy. We need a RM and LM who can not only run forward fast, but track back fast too.

5) WOOD? Wood who, Balsa Wood, I don't rate him, he's not prolific enough and doesn't create an impact and has a pointy head. Antenucci is a much better striker than Wood, but, we get rid of the better player like we have done in past and make excuses for the ones we keep.

Another striker who is better than Antenucci is going to make Wood look like a nomad on a 40 days and nights holiday.

I think Wood is going to struggle to keep his place if we bring in another couple of strikers, and they seem to be in pipeline somewhere; if we don't, we're stuffed.

6) I don't have a problem with Belluschi taking free kicks if he stays, I'm sure everyone remembers the goal he scored from a free kick.

Corners however are a different story. Looking back at our corners, too short, too long and most to the opposition, only a very small percentage found the penalty spot.

7) Captain? I think Coopers a fairly good captain and has done well shouldering the responsibility and playing defence. I do think he lacks a bit of confidence and umph to get up players, no matter who they are.

8) Manager, if he plays favourites and the single striker formation then we won't be challenging for promotion or a top 6 berth. He's said he wants to play good attacking football that will also entertain the fans; that remains to be seen.

9) Owner, what an owner, got to love the mad eyetie haven't you. Seems he knew what he was doing by bringing in Niccolò Barratieri di San Pietro and virtually ousting GFH, and then getting us an ex prem coach....................ye of little faith.....:1980_boogie_down:

Ok so I disagree with a hell of a lot here and I'm quite bored so here it goes.

1) how do you know how good BPF is? Have you seen him play, I haven't. He could be incredibly good. Personally I have seen enough of silvestri to think he isn't good enough for a promotion team but at the same time not a priority for where we are currently.

2) I know you love the Italians at the club but how can you honestly honestly say "keep bellusci". He makes terrible terrible mistakes all the time, I defended him when he first came to the club but now I just think he can't head a ball, he's not very fast, his tackles on the ground are all last ditch, and he doesn't particularly read the game very well either. Add onto that his incredible mistakes, the one he made in that game where silvestri ended up getting sent off as a result was possibly the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen a professional footballer do, it can't be defended, that alone should see him out of the club. He's disastrous. Imo. Cooper is ok but need better for the first 11 if we are ever to get promoted.

3) I don't know what to say when you go on about the whole of the midfield needs to be shipped out. Cook is our best player and as a result worth a lot of money. Diagouraga seems quite decent himself. We have a lot of players in there that are of the same sort of ability below that which is a problem but I've always felt our managers have never balanced the midfield well. If we get rid of cook then we will have gone a long way backwards imo.

4) 442 is a bad formation for the championship I think personally. But then I'm never big on putting so much pressure into finding the right formation. See what players we have, play our best players in their proper positions and suit a formation around that. I think 4-5-1/4-3-3 suits us best. We need better attacking wingers which is a big problem of ours.

5) wood was our best striker hands down last season, needs help but will get better and we can't really condemn him when we create so few chances. His movement is actually pretty decent to get into good positions. He has a hell of a strike on him as well.

6) bellusci scored that free kick 2 years ago. We need better, but agree about corners.

7) desperately need a new capatain. Desperately.

9) <doh>

Not bait, I don't fish but you must be seriously pissed off. Despite your season long predictions of doom and gloom for us and the formality of the wally express thundering back to the championship, it really all went horribly wrong for you didn't it <doh> you're lucky were far too classy a bunch to continue to mention it <laugh>
Did the Wallys not get promoted then?<whistle>
