Where do we go from here?

Now the vast majority of us accept our fate, what in your view do we have to look forward to? Assuming TF & Harry stay, where do we go from here. I have no doubt Harry couldn't believe how poor we were when he took over and saw first-hand what most of us knew for most of this season.

This is one of the poorest sides I can remember at this level, our team of the 70s was a joy to watch and rightly regarded as our best ever. The team of the 80s and 90s went through ups and downs but were competitive and gave us some great memories as well. This lot, for all their 'pedigree' are a bunch of shysters, no effort, selfish, can't string three passes together and an embarrassment to our name. For DT to constantly rave that this is our best ever squad is frankly an insult to all our greatest players of the past.

If we really are going to launch a quick comeback there are very few of this squad who'll be in Harry's plans, I really think he'll dispatch the stalwarts, Hill, Derry and Mackie. They aren't PL quality and they will be three years older than when we started our Championship-winning season, they wouldn't be used if we got back up so why use them in the Championship? We need to build a team good enough to get up and, when up, need as little disruption as possible, the teams that are successful when going up use most of their squad with a few additions.

If Samba does stay that would be a great starting point, along with Green we could build from the back. Mbia and Diakite might make a decent midfield pairing but we really need a playmaker who can control a game. Granero might do a job at that level but I'm not convinced, I don't see Adel staying if Harry does. Hoilett might find the Championship a place to recover his form, Zamora and Johnson could be worth a try but I reckon Harry will have other ideas and I'm sure there will be some names we hadn't given a thought to turning up.

What are your thoughts on next season?...
 
I won't fully accept you are gone unless you fail to beat Stoke next week. I know it's unlikely but whilst mathematically possible you have to keep fighting. 15 points to play for and just pray Wigan and Sunderland lose all their games. I can't see Sunderland winning any time soon, Newcastle will beat them today, as for Wigan they may be distracted by the FA Cup.

If relegation does happen, the plan has to be to keep the spine of your team, the players you've mentioned are key but I also think keeping loanees Townsend and Jenas is crucial. You need fighters but you also need quality. IMO the Championship will not be as strong next year as it has been in the last two. If Palace don't go up this year they won't be near playoffs, a side in absolute free fall and when they lose Zaha in the summer that will cut them massively. I honestly think Bolton/Forest will win the playoffs and next year it will be contested by Brighton, Charlton, Watford and the Premier League dropouts.
 
Problem has been a lack of spine this year so none to keep. Next year we must re build , I'd be happy with 10th and look forward to the following season

For DT to constantly rave that this is our best ever squad is frankly an insult to all our greatest players of the past. How you make that statement i can't see. Don't get me wrong we have had some great players and some great teams but football yesterday and today can never be compared just of the fitness aspect as well as other stuff ... The wing back position rules of the game etc. I would prefer to live in the past but the bare facts are that even George Best would struggle today and those were his own words!.

I first said that our squad was the best in 18 years but as the quality has been added then it's not even an argument This is the best squad ever assembled ... where posters get confused is that you bring in results with that. This is possibly the worse QPR team performance but as players on the whole they could play in most of this divisions sides. The very posters who shouted for good players got them and still moan. The fan base of QPR posters has acted like spoilt children on here and I have met a few at LR that are a lot ****ing worse! ... In time you will have to all understand that my madness and interpretation of the infected has massive foundations of truth in it. I have time and time again got my predictions wrong about the results of QPR ... why? simply because i believe that and have seen glimpses that this squad of players can easily be in the top half of this division ... yet because they are not ... I am not about to simply give up ... The truth is we may chew over stuff forever and i doubt if any of us will ever know the answers.

Hughes put together a good squad ... people inside football know that and they also know that mosts fans have become fickle dickheads ... we weren't at all because we had our feet on the ground and 18 years to get over the disappointment of our fall ... then came a drug rush as good as heroin of an investment and rebranding program that will take this club to places you know inside is going to happen in the long run. Hughes will as shocked as anyone that it didn't work ... as is Harold ... as for NW you will at last see that he is just like the rest playing the media IMO he will always fall short and has shown himself in the last few days ... what have we all learnt you can't buy a team and success that easily. However we have a great and outstanding squad and it's easily the best in our history ... I ain't giving up until it's impossible with this team I believe in them even after yesterday's performance against a very good side.
 
Admirable spirt DT but thats it, I fear. Faith is great but blind faith is not (The excellent band aside!).
Harry staying is key for me. I think he'll want to prove a point. He will have time and be able to sculpt a team that will be his. I'd love Townsend if a deal could be done and Jenas is ours anyway.

I wpuld keep M'bia, Green, Fabio, Samba, Diakite, Hoilett, Adel, AJ, Traore and Bosingwa (hopefully, if his change of attitude remains) and with huge regret, bid farewell to Hilly, Jamie and Shaun. Fantastic servants of the club, with the type of attitude plenty of others should learn from. They should do well in the Championship.

If we do well and come straight back up, I would expect at least half of those I've mentioned to go next summer. But thats a bit away yet. Whatever happens, lets stick together. Emotions are running so high at the moment, but lets have some solidarity. Up the workers! :smiley:
 
Easy, we regroup, continue the off the field build, if we go down we will be back and we will build a dynasty to at last eclipse the 75-76 vintage. I'm delighted to be a QPR fan, we have ambition, congenital style, location and an owner who gets it. Players and managers will come and go, the direction is set. In five years time we will recognise that the last 2 seasons were a necessary part of our journey.

We will continue to be highlighted in the media, fans of other clubs will still come on here and WUM - its because they, sad buggers, define themselves against us rather than have confidence in themselves - all signs of strength. The mission is unstoppable.
 
What we need is stability. Should we keep Harry? Yes, but we need to look at the next 5-10 years. Harry is not the solution, so what do we do? How about this:
Give Gareth Ainsworth a ring and suggest that he is going to be Harry's apprentice until it is time for him to take over.
He will learn from Harry, gain some more experience and then be a long term prospect. A man with hooped blood. If we come straight back up, maybe, Harry should have one more year, otherwise GA takes over. Consistency for next season and the foreseeable future. Simple!

Try watching 70s videos of our passing and movement, Dave Sexton's coaching was light years ahead of it's time and that 75-76 side passed the opposition to death. The difference in fitness levels is irrelevant, the skill on the ball is what separates great sides and that was, in that era, the most skillful side. We had players with subtlety and vision honed to perfection. To call the half-wits who can't keep possession for more than a few passes our best-ever side is just ridiculous...

I don't think this is one of the worst teams ever at this level. On paper they should be top 10. I think it's down to too many players really not giving a ****.
Granero is weak in possession and has no heart for a fight imo....not suited to the Championship (Maybe blue square?).
Harry is in love with Zamora and I think he'd want him up front next season (I wouldn't!!).
