Where did it go wrong!

Although it was expected the season was going to be tough & a 17th finish (which is still possible) would be satisfactory it has to be said that overall the season as a whole has been a huge let down. The optimism from last season going into this has long disappeared with anger, frustration, discontent etc replacing it. The aim at the start of the season would have been to achieve the 38-40+ points mark which barring a miracle isn't going to happen. So on reflection here's the events that I believe had a major influence on why we're in the position we currently stand & not got the points we should have are:

• The Goons ****ing up pre-season & not selling until too late
• Rushed signings of Barton & SWP
• QPR v Chelsea great win but all the racism business certainly had a knock on affect
• Faurlin injury
• Barton sending off versus Norwich
• Cisse sending off versus Wolves
• Diakite sending off versus Fulham
• Buzsaky miss against Everton
• Hill disallowed goal versus Bolton

As the 4 year plan showed QPR has & will always be a real life soap opera & TBH I probably wouldn't want any other away although a period of stability & relative success wouldn't go amiss.

If we do go down then as long as can hold on to the majority of the squad then I do think we're in a strong position to bounce back.

We are QPR & life goes on.
 
The most significant factor was the Goons effectively refusing to allow Warnock to sign players from the moment our promotion was confirmed. Norwich & Swansea quickly snapped up players who, although not big names, have proved astute buys. Those and a couple of big names that weren't mercenaries would've given us a pre-season that would've at least given us a chance of stability and not introduced the poison that Barton has brought to the dressing room...

I agree this was the most significant factor although even then we've had opportunities (some highlighted) to gain significantly more points than currently have.

Didn't Colin get quoted saying the signings Norwich made were to ensure a quick return to the Prem following relegation this season? Jokers.
 
Although the goons are the main culprits, I still think it was a massive failure of Warnocks to concentrate on strengthening our midfield on transfer deadline day instead of our forwards and defence.

He brought in Ferdinand which was a good signing, but if he thought that Dj and Betty were the answer to score goals, well it didn't work out.

But I'd still have kept Warnock even if it meant certain relegation as the club owed him a debt and we'd certainly be stronger in the championship with him in charge if we are relegated.

But what's happened has happened. We must now get behind the team and pray for a miracle. But if the worst happens then we have a season of winning to look forward to and another promotion party.

This is what footballs all about.
 
Well, as the OP as posed the question....I suppose the lesson is don't think that having bags of money and brutally clearing out the players that got you promotion will bring you success. It clearly doesn't, and whoever took that strategic decision got it very wrong.
 
Where did it all go wrong? Neil Warnock deciding to break up a defence that kept 25 clean sheets last season. He should of kept them together, they wouldn't of been as bad as what we have this season.
 
It all goes wrong during the summer and after that it has been wrong decisions after another. Wrong decisions with signings ,wrong decisions with starting XI ,wrong decisions with playing systems ,wrong decisions with tactics, wrong decisions of referees ,wrong decisions of whom to put on to take free kicks and cornerkicks ,and now it seems to have a wrong decision with a choice of manager.
