Fa suspensions for bookings are a load of bollocks anyway. If a player signs from abroad late in January it's near impossible for them to get themselves banned for yellows as it's impossible to pick up a ban for 5 or 10 bookings due to the deadlines so the only way they can get 15 bookings in there 15-17 games. I'm surprised no player has deliberately exploited that yet, it seems like a gift to me, they can boot the ball away or put in cynical fouls at the end of games with virtual impunity.

Very true, YV. Perhaps they should use the 5 and 10 booking bans for those joining in January? It would make far more sense.

I should add that my earlier comments were based on an assumption that Kaboul would return to full fitness, and be the player he was previously. Should his injury problem prove to be something more permanent, everything changes!..

Dawson over Kaboul for me, unless Kaboul starts resembling the player he was. The high line is not friendly to a player with Dawson's lack of speed. But his positioning is good, and he's a good captain. Kaboul, unfortunately, is still not back to anywhere near what he was pre-injury. I wonder how many of us picked Chiriches as our best signing? I'm probably one of the few who thinks Paulinho, up and down as he's been, may have been even better.

It's definitely a high-wire act with Vlad, which is one of the reasons I like him. He seemed on the verge of giving the ball away in a dangerous area a number of times against Man U, but always managed to keep it from happening. But I'll take a ball playing CB like that any day, if he has Vlad's talent. I can't imagine not starting him in a meaningful game under any circumstances bar injury or card trouble at this point.

Not many i would guess would have picked Vlad as the best, but you're right he probably has been. Even after his first game in the ropey league he looked suspect, but that was a very early introduction to the team.

I like Vlad. I also think those stats about when he plays can be reinterpreted. The game he played and we lost was Newcastle was it not? That was the game he didn't finish, so we can actually say that we have not lost a game in which he has finished.

I think Vlad's been really good. Still a bit too risky at times when he has the ball and looks to break forward (Utd nearly caught him out) but overall, he's been a great signing. Probably our best signing of the summer so far. Similar to Vertonghen in some aspects.

He is a risk taker but wtf this is a sport. We have an exciting collection of defenders it's just a pity that Benny is not there with them.

Don't mention Benny, I miss him too much, makes me upset.

The All Blacks have a culture that all their players have to conform to see http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11158017

One of the points is 'No Dickheads' - they actually say that players will not be selected on that ground alone - no matter how skillful. If AVB's decision on BAE is related to introducing something like this, then it will be very valuable in the long run

Sometimes clubs need a dickhead. Technically, Sandro is a dickhead, the guy's always pulling pranks and no doubts he's hardly the most keen listener in training (as evidence by his pranks). Dickheads help keep morale high in my opinion.

SAVE THE DICKHEADS!

So no Gazza or Best Hmm! not for me, football is about entertainment, sounds like the old Leeds or Arsenal syndrome win 1-0 never mind the quality look at the points. <steam>

You gonna call Sandro a dickhead? <laugh>

The All Blacks are not exactly lacking in pranksters or creative players. I suspect they are trying to rule out Taarabts rather than Bests.

But don't you think we can learn something from successful teams?

Not from other sports in my opinion, completely different mentalities and type of people.

We can learn from our own history we don't need to look at other teams. We want Spurs to win like Spurs. Once again, too much analysis too little spontinaity (sp). If you are going to copy Barcalona But don't have their players you end up with a poor copy.

Something we've only really achieved in the 60s!

And it'll be even longer if we play like we are now.

At least pre-this season we were entertained despite failing to win things/ reach targets.

Now we're boring as hell and don't look like scoring let alone winning.

The haka would be so much more fun if one of the players was wearing a pair of plastic breasts for the whole thing, yet kept the super-serious facial expression throughout.

I reckon we should have Sandro do the haka, before a game, think he would scare a few opponents,i know it would scare me <yikes>
