LJ has said that next season he will be operating with a reduced budget and some players we can’t afford to keep. Is this just bluff for the benefit of other clubs or is KLD going careful with the cash, preferring to concentrate on producing players through the academy?

Perhaps he's just being cautious with what he says in regards to budget, don't want to be priced out of things I guess.

I suppose the reduced budget could also be like he had his eyes on a Championship budget, but now has to make do with a league one budget p

every other team down here seems to think we are just going to throw good money at any random player thanks to donalds negotiating tecnique so putting it out early that he will not have 'mega millions' to throw around, despite the new owner is probably the best course of action.

If we offload Mcgeady then our budget will reduce by a canny margin so he is probably right in what he says.

Is it down to the financial regs that we can't 'afford' to keep them as there was only a years grace wasn't there? (I may be wrong on that tho)

Maybe a bit of both.
I'll bet KLD has plenty of connections to bring in some young foreign talent.

just chooses not to play them ie Maguire then ? why didn't someone overrule him then

I don't know.
But then I'm not there, I'm not the manager, I don't see what goes on day to day.
Neither do you ;)
I know one thing.
In the 5 months he's been here we made a good fist of it considering injuries.
He brought mcgeady back and he got Wyke up to top scorer.
I could go on etc etc but hey ;)

I'm not sure exactly why Johnson said that, but do I think Dreyfus is cool with risking staying in league one indefinitely by not spending money to quickly build a quality side? No I do not. He'll be targeting promotion and penny pinching isn't the way to do it.

If KLD is a realist he probably hoped for promotion but has a plan for either scenario.

Honestly I’d rather we spent frugally but well. We’ve never done that. Also LJ is t going to say we’ve got a massive budget as everyone’s price just goes up.

id rather we used data to identify the correct players for an identified way of playing. Teams have got out of this league with smaller budgets so why can’t we?

KLD should keep his powder dry until we hit the championship but even then I don’t us to be splashing cash unless we really have to.

put the proper infrastructure in place to ensure our recruitment is informed and not the slap dash ****e we’ve had over the last 10 years.

Bear in mind we are about to start contract negotiations with players - some of them already at the club. By saying we may not be able to keep some he’s giving credibility to any offers we make that agents perceive as low. Should help in negotiations if agents know we won’t just pay what they want

Good point. Still got money to buy but not as much as if we’d been promoted. I hadn’t thought of that. I’m becoming thick in old age. Or should I say thicker.

Yeah, who’d a thought it about Wyke at around Xmas time. Top scorer with 31 goals... good man-management.

I wouldn't give Johnson 20 quid to spend he's clueless so if kld sticks with him wr won't be going up anytime soon

Yet, oddly, only a couple of months ago while we were on a long unbeaten run, he was a genius.

So the 'Sack the Manager' brigade are at it again then.
After all it's been so successful for us in the past.
Hasn't it?????????:emoticon-0120-doh:
