The names I already gave, puts Grayson down to about 10th out of 25! I have already stated that the only managers of Leeds United who can be considered as the best managers are Revie and Wilkinson. You should also remember that none (except Grayson) of the managers that Leeds have had, managed the team in the 3rd tier of English, so you can't actually equate what he did with them.
Greeny, we are stuck with him for the time being, and lets be honest, he has a reputation for promotion. I think one thing we all agree on, is BATES OUT.....
LUFC have traditionally done badly post Christmas. That is a fact proven by stats. So you could argue that warnock just took over at abadtime. Grayson's time was up and Warnock is just about to start He needs some backing though
An argument is nothing without evidence. Name some names. You named four who are better than Grayson (Revie, Wilko, Armfield, O'Leary). Now who are the other five that put Grayson down to 10th?
I don't believe that to be true. When O'Leary's sacking was first announced by Ri... Ri... Ri... that bastard, he said very clearly that his departure was not for footballing reasons. This was quickly changed for all further announcements. I remember it very clearly. I don't know the exact reason for sure, but my info from Wetherby Barbers (where all the players & academy lads used to go at that time) was that he had lost half of the dressing room. Without going into detail, half of the dressing room was backing DOL & half were backing Eddie Gray on a very sensitive non-footballing issue.
See my post #36 on this topic. Also consider that Grayson and only Grayson has managed Leeds United in the 3rd tier of English football.
Oh yeah, missed that. Your argument is entirely based on divisional status and has nothing to do with who did the best with the resources they were given. Grayson was given playoff standard backing in League One and got us automatic promotion. Bottom half backing in his first season in the Championship, got us three points off the playoffs. Even less in his next season, still three points off the playoffs. For me, that's a better achievement than someone like Blackwell who had top backing for the division at his disposal, and other coaches who had better squads and better backing. I mean come on, it's like saying that Avram Grant is a good manager because he won the FA Cup even though he inherited a great team. He's obviously dog-****e, yet he still won more than some obviously better managers like Paul Lambert. It's not all black-and-white, you need to see it with perspective.
If you take it your way, then Wise would be one of the best, considering the -15 point deduction and lack of finances.
In what way? I'm saying you should review a manager's entire reign and do so with perspective. That clearly means Grayson's one of our best ever managers and Wise is probably on the lower end of average.
But Grayson's managerial experience with Leeds, included a full season and a half in the third tier of English football, which (except for MacAllister) no other Leeds manager had ever managed in.
Yes, and if you look back, he did well under the circumstances of what financial backing he had and the pressure that was on him, a pressure that wasn't present back in the days of Major Frank and Raich Carter. I refer you to the Avram Grant Hypothesis if you're going to persist with this blunt, indiscriminate theory of 'good division therefore good manager'.
