Good to see our scoring of goals late on is so good, especially compared to Saints age-old habit of conceding late goals.

Makes interesting reading CBK..... and agree about the late goals. Interesting for me is that Barney coming on as a late substitute is responsible for an awful lot of those late goals.

I think it links to the debate around the squad system... having back-up in every position means we can rest players more frequently and these stats could be the result. It is a question of judgement as to when players should be rested but it seems that if we can keep players fresh then they are more likely to be able to finish games strongly.

Another way of looking at it is that once we open the scoring, teams are forced to open up. It's often a matter of luck how early we open the scoring, but once we do we have regularly gone on to score 3/4/5 goals this season and inevitably they can't come earlier so they must come later!

Does this not suggest that Barnard is most effective as a "plan B" and therefore should remain an impact substitute?
