after that man goes, do you feel sorry for harry, that he has been genuinely trying to keep the man and has been stitched up by the player, the board and the agent?
or do you think he was told in april/may that he will go without CL qualification and the rest was appeasement and posturing under instruction from the higher powers?
if the former is true, then he was in an impossible situation. if the latter is true then he is disingenuous and his whole integrity is questionnable.
i find it hard to believe, with the way transfers go these days, that a manager could ever be unaware (at this level) of the plans of the board regarding specific individuals.
He must surely have gone to the board after we lost to city and said " CL over , Mr Levy, what's the boards position on modric and bale etc, now?" I doubt they would have said that none are for sale and that we would never sell, whatever the offers amounted to !
Ought harry to say nothing rather than give us false hopes about the real methodology of the board.?
Are we , the fans, just even bigger saps than we were years back.?
WHy do we think that football is now more sophisticated, economically-based and better run and thus we will be treated any better than the cash-cows we have always been?
It is all money and we are only there to improve the atmos in the ground.
The gate receipts are probably relatively small as a % of what they bring in from other avenues. Maybe they don't need fans at all.
Just shareholders, corporate boxes and journos from the mail.

'Arry literally can do no right with us Spurs fans. If he'd said that Modric might leave, he'd be accused of not trying hard enough to keep him, all he's done here is tow the Spurs party line that we are not selling our best players.

If Modric is true to his word in that interview then he won't be going anywhere and as far as I'm concerned no one at the club have done anymore to keep him at the Lane.

Speak for yourself mate but in general yes.

As for arry, why do you think he is always making hints in the press and conferences about transfers and his favourite is "we couldn't afford his wages, daniel won't put this club at risk and rightly so" which translates to "we can't sign the players to match the ambition this club should have and when our players get offers from bigger clubs they will always go"
 
I think levy will hold out for an astronomic amount of money and if any club does not match his valuation he wont sell,its happened with pav and the deadwood at the club so whats different now. Personally, and I know its hard nowadays I would make him stay at least another year and if he sulked ala berbi
and not play to his full potential he would only harm his own chances of a prestige move
 
If the board were genuinely willing to let Modric go without a fight, then he wouldn't have had to pull this latest stunt, in my opinion.
 
Surely if we were selling Modric for big bucks we would not risk losing Parker as a target for the sake of a (relatively) few quid and would have written the cheque for ten mill already? Truth be told, replacing Modric with Parker makes no sense at all.
