Yep still there from yesterday! http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/...adium-ruling/story-26887220-detail/story.html
They probably won't start on time and they will then want to announce it at a press conference. Presumably the WDP won't be there because they'll have pitched up to the wrong ground...
From Mcnamara..... Nick higgs and other directors currently in a meeting at mem i am told From BBC's Ali Durden..... No barristers, no representation from either side. We are just getting a written verdict. 31 pages of it.
Well they have had all weekend to read discuss and inwardly digest. If the decision is to be formally announced at 11.00 they will have had plenty of time to give us a précis of what the decision amounts to very quickly.
Sainsburys won! Rovers are appealing! http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/stadium-club-statement-2543147.aspx ****!
Let's face it, if we had won then Sainsburys would have appealed...and so it goes on... Ever read Bleak House...?
Bollocks! Waste of time appealing - throwing good money after bad. Oh well, back to the league and our sumptuous Memorial Ground surroundings! In my opinion, the directors should cut their losses and try and refurbish the Mem with Football League grants etc. Either that, or sell the Club to someone with money, because they clearly haven't got enough to deliver a decent stadium. Every time Higgs tries to do something - student flats at the Mem, Sainsbury's etc. - it goes to ****. He should give up.
No chance re-doing the Mem. The locals will appeal against it as doesnt want the Mem touched as they still believe its a war memorial blah blah blah.
What's the betting sainsburys will buy a chance to sponsor us next season. Sainsburys splashed all over the front of out home shirt. Another humiliating saga waiting to happen
Does the recent Budget statement on brownfield sites make any difference to what can be built on the Mem site? Housing with the right sort of density (ie flats) could still be lucrative and there is a shortage of housing etc...
I think a company like Sainsburys will bleed the club dry. They can spin this out for years, just like they have done all over the country. The big lesson from this is that supermarkets aren't reliable or equal partners and they're ruthless in their pursuit of profit.
We’ve already achieved Planning Permission for the Mem once, so I’m sure we can do it again. The War Memorial bit is less of an argument for the locals than selling the land to Sainsbury’s as in any redevelopment the War Memorial Gates etc will remain in situ. The stumbling block, as ever, will be cold, hard cash – of which we have none. But I’d rather they developed the Mem piecemeal than throw any more money down the legal black hole - nothing will come of any appeals. If we borrow a couple of million, get another couple in Stadia Improvement Grants and get the directors to chuck in some more, we should have enough for a couple of seated stands. It’s got to be better than the craphole we currently inhabit. Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s can go and **** themselves – they’re not getting any more of my money, which is a pity as their store is better than our local Tesco!. Justice Proudman can go and **** herself too; she’s not a man, can’t be proud and has no concept of justice – so she’s a total misnomer.
