Born in Dorchester - lived there all my life - I love it here I support Bristol City because when I was young my best mate came from Bristol - his Dad used to drive us up to games. I lost contact with that friend 30 years ago (he joined the army) - now I make the pilgrimage up to Bristol every week on my own
Born Knowle, lived in Stockwood, first house in Hengrove, moved to Whitchurch by Baccy Jar then on to Keynsham.
Born in 1960 in Berkeley Glos. Moved with my Mum to my Grandmothers Whitchurch in '62 when my parents split up. Got married in '82 and moved to Pucklechurch. Moved back to Whitchurch in 1987 and have been here ever since. Have worked in France (for nearly a year, commuting to/from Lulsgate every Monday & Friday), Holland, Belgium, North America (just south of Philadelphia for 6 months and still have friends there), Poland, and India.
If you were commuting to America, Poland and India as well you'd have clocked up a fair few air miles as well.
Born in Southmead hospital in 72, moved to Gloucster in 74, then to Wales (New Radnor), then to Axbridge in 81(became a City fan due to playing footie for Axbridge juniors and the guy running the team was called Dave Callow and he was on the board at the time), left there in 84 to move to Hereford. In 88 I joined the Army and have lived in Aldershot, Germany (Duisburg, Paderborn & Osnabruck), Tidworth,Abingdon, Chippenham, out to Brunei then back to Chippenham, then Cyprus then finished my service in London. Now moved to Australia in Oct 12 now in Brisbane and guess what, yes moving again in Jan 14 to just south of Melbourne. I can safely say I have had more homes than the Gas
Born Southmead Hospital July 1943 and lived in Filton until I got married in 1969. Dad took me to Bristol Rovers Feb 1950, Bristol Rugby March 1950 and City on April 7th 1950 when we beat Aldershot 2-0. Then in that summer off to cricket at Glos CC, Somerset CC and Glamorgan. But hooked on City from that very first visit although often went to see Rovers if City were away. And also loved rugby and cricket from that time. Christmas and birthday presents always involved sports equipment or clothing. Went to BGS from age 8 so able to play cricket with all the equipment, played football, rugby, hockey and rugby fives. Highlights of 50's was City winning Div 3 (S), derby matches with Rovers, FA Cup tie v Blackpool with Stan Mattews and trips to Cardiff City then in Div One with Dad and his brother. I don't know why some of you refer to Filton and places in North Bristol as Gasland; there were always plenty of City fans there when I was young and I suspect it's not much different now. Left school in 1960 so did lots of City away trips in the sixties. Got married in 1969 and moved to Southville. Three years on moved to Yate and another three later back to Ashton Vale; Silbury Road where the Village Green dog walkers live. Was there through those glorious days in Div One and then the big slide to bottom of Div Four so moved to Hotwells. Then changed jobs and went on the road selling packaging, resulting in a move to Shrewsbury. Spent 8 years there, missing only one City home game because we were snowed in without any power for the weekend. Also watched a lot of Shrews games at the Gay Meadow. Wife came with me to most home games. Back to Hanham in 1995, David Seal lived opposite for a while. My wife and I went to see six matches in Euro 96, although none included England. Three group games, Quarter at Anfield, semi at Old Trafford and Final Czech v Germany. Great time at all the matches with the Dutch games very good on and off the field. Then off to Bradley Stoke in 1997. First wife died in early 98 just as I started another new job in Livingston near Edinburgh. Lived there each week from Sunday evening to Friday lunchtime and then drove to Bristol if City were home, or to the away matches in the North of England, or went to see Livingston, Hearts, Falkirk, Dunfermline and plenty of others from all four Scottish divisions. Moved back to house in Bradley Stoke in 1999 and met second wife a few months later. She knows nothing about football but did go to Wembley with the Gas with boyfriend for play-off defeat by Huddersfield. She says it was a lovely day out! See what I mean. Retired from work in Aprl 2005 and in July 2005 we moved to Portugal. I have always missed City, especially in the early days here with much poorer communication than the last three years since City I-player arrived. But still managed to get over for about 6 games a season with 12 in the year after we lost to Hull. Because I was daft enough to buy a season ticket the day before the Wembley game, reasoning that if we won, I had to get an ST or risk not being able to get in at all. Now we have a buyer for our house - waiting for her to pay us the deposit - and so we'll hope to be back in the Bristol area by the autumn. So my 64th season approaches and I look forward to it as I have done all previous ones. Most football fans are like me. It's a freezing cold night and Our team is playing like retired Weston donkeys, yet we stay there to the bitter end hoping and "praying" (not in the religious sense) that by some miracle, one of the donkeys will suddenly become a "Nijinsky" and perform something wonderful to get the winner, or with City a last minute draw. We all do a lot of dreaming, don't we? COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!
OK for the younger ones. Quicker than Adomah, a four legged beauty that ran horse races as if there wasn't another horse with twenty miles. There was also of course, the Russian male ballet dancer of the same name. After whom the horse was named.
Won me a fair few bob because I backed him to do the treble in 1970 Ante post 2000 guin Derby and Irish derby put the bet on in 1969 lost the slip but Ladbrooks found the bet and paid out.
Born in Bridgwater and went to school at Dr Morgans Grammar School in Durleigh. Lived until I was 16 in Edithmead and later Cannington and then I left home and transferred my apprenticeship to Woolwich Arsenal (in the new a few weeks ago for all the wrong reasons) before meeting my wife Ann who lived in Chiselhurst Kent. Married and then moved to Andover Hants and in 1975 moved to Canada to live in Winnipeg, and later moved on up to Edmonton Alberta. Six years ago I retired on health grounds and relocated to the interior of BC where I now reside. Considering a move to Vancouver Island and leaving on a jet plane tomorrow morning to look at houses out there. That's all folks!
Turn left and drive for about 4,000 miles and you will hit Vancouver Island on the Pacific coast of Canada. Next stop Japan.
