According to Google: in the northern hemisphere it begins on 20th March in 2019. That is the date of the spring equinox. So summer begins around 21st June and carries on till 21st September. This is known as "Astrological Spring". Alternatively we can go with the seasons: Winter - Dec, Jan Feb Spring - Mar, Apr, May Summer - Jun, Jul, Aug Autumn - Sep, Oct, Nov That makes sense to me given that the temperature seems to lag behind the height of the sun in the sky e.g.: 21st Dec is the shortest day yet we tend to get the coldest temperatures around 4-5 weeks later. Same (as in opposite) applies to the summer solstice. This is known as "Meteorological Spring". But should we just take the season to be based purely on the tilt of the earth so if 21st June is "the middle of summer" then summer runs from 8th May to 5 August? Spring would run from 6th Fenruary to 7th May. This is known as "Time for another poll about adverts spring"
Well spotted thanks and amended. Sometimes ones mind is so distracted by deep philosophical thoughts that it's easy to overlook the simple things such as typing what one meant to type.
